Hey anyone got a good solution to an ingrown toenail. It isn't infected anymore, but hurts a lot.

I had the same problem but, mine got infected. the only solution that worked for me was to go to the foot Doctor and have it removed.

Get a bucket or small tub thingy, fill it with water and some kind of liquid soap. It works better if the waters warm but it doesn't have to be. Soak your foot/feet for about fifteen-twenty minutes. Take the toe in question, and just gently massage the skin around your nail, on whatever side you're having problems with, kind of like you are coaxing your nail out of your skin. It sounds silly, but that's what I do.

Better suggestion: take a bucket or large bowl or small tub, whatever, fill it with water that's as hot as you can deal with (not scalding obviously) and dissolve salt in it. Sea salt is usually better but any salt will work. The hot water will make it easier to massage the skin around the nail and the salt will help if there is any sort of infection left over, just in case.

This tends to be more effective than just water and soap. 15/20 minutes should work as well.

Yeah, that works too. I just never use salt because it usually burns, if it's infected that is. I'm a weeny.

In addition to this, try hitting it with hydrogen peroxide every day. It's good for keeping infection away.

the only solution that worked for me was to go to the foot Doctor and HAVE THE WHOLE foot removed.

I read that like that ^ :P then I freaked out.

Here's some tips:
-cut your nails not too close and straight across, not curving.
-if it's not infected, I used a toothpick to get it under the ingrown corner area and gently bent the nail enough so it wouldn't be digging into skin.
-go to the doctor

i had to have one cut out at the foot doctor. Only took 10 minutes. They gave me a shot first and there was no pain. Played baseball that night.

I get these all the time and last year it was so bad I ended up needing surgery. Thankfully they froze it, but since i've got them frozen so many times before (like 10 in 2 months) the actual surgery, my body was immune to it and rejected it and felt it at the full thing. I got it done November 27th of last year and I haven't had a single problem with it since.

What I do, is I put my feet in a bucket of warm water with bath salts. I would do this once in the morning, when I got home from school (around 4), and before I went to bed. I would place a quarter sized amount of fuicidin cream (It was prescribed to me, but you might be able to find an over the counter cream. I've heard polysporin works for minor cases) and covered it with bandaid.
