I have had depression all my life but for the past two years I have been really well.
No medication, regular excersise,a fairly positive outlook and then yesterday, bang, like being hit with a hammer on the head,I’m ready to give up.
Crying, thoughts of harming myself, I just don’t fucking understand what’s happened!

That's odd. Have you like broke up or lost a family member or had a fight with a friend or anything recently?

A couple of trivial things that most normal people would get over but my reaction is way out of proportion to events.

Are you sure you haven't just been suppressing your emotions? Then when something seemingly small happens you just explode?

Well I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure the medicine is to suppress the symptoms. So, they could come back whenever, I believe. But again, I'm not an expert on the subject, but you can message and talk to me if it helps

The problem isn't the problem. Your attitude to the problem is the problem.
What i mean by that is that you say you blow things out of proportion and become depressed where others don't. You need to ask yourself what that tells you about your attitude to situations. There is always a positive to be taken from any situation. You are just programmed to see the negative in it.
Stop over-exaggerating problems and issues and take a step back. Be honest with yourself and realize the issue for what it is. Soon those HUGE problems will become tiny little side issues that you will easily deal with because there are always bigger things in life.
Give yourself a positive focus. Whether that is getting in shape, doing well in school. Whatever it may be. That long term, POSITIVE focus will stop you worrying about little negative worries that you may have. Remember, fears and doubts are not real. They are created by your mind! Learn to smash through those worries and become the person you want to be.

This may be a little late, but I have been through it. TheTatsbros explained it perfectly, but also when going through depression, this is the time to change. This is when you can be different, but the person who you always wanted to be. Also, don't beat yourself up over simple things. I done it, and now I look back I shouldn't have. It was something not to get sad about and wanting to crawl in a hole. Once you're over it, you will feel on top of the world.
