Next week I am going to the doctor to ask about birth control pills. i did some reading online and some people say the pill will make you gain weight while other sites said this is false. can anyone who is on or has been on birth control tell me if it has caused you to gain weight?

I've been on dianette (essentially a contraceptive pill but more orientated at acne) on and off for a few years now and it hasn't caused me to gain anything, but the reason some people will say that is because it's a side effect, and everyone reacts to medication differently so you might, you might not, the best thing to do is just try it and find a pill that's best for you

I was on cerazette for 3 months, no wait gain. Then I was on nexplanon alone for 3 months, no wait gain. Then I was put on cerazette and nexplanon together- no wait gain. Then I went off cerazette and went on brevinor along with nexplanon. I put on about quarter of a stone. I stopped taking Brevinor 2 weeks ago and haven't lost any weight. So whether or not it was the Brevinor or just coincidence I couldn't tell you, but I found no problems what so ever to do with weight with progesterone only contraception... just a constant period. Combined contraception was awful for me though. My perod stopped but I got moody and my boobs hurt so much....

From what I've encountered no contraception is perfect and all have some side effect or another. Like Natalie said, trial and error is all you can do. I've been doing this for almost a year and a half now and I still can't get the balance right.

I think you will make research, before take any pills. it is not only because making fat, but about other functions of your body too

I've been taking Norgestimate and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets going on two years. My period is super regular and I haven't noticed any specific side effects. Obviously I've gained weight but I'm growing so I really doubt it's the BC pills.

Most birth control pills slow down you metabolism. If you eat right, you'll be fine.

As stated -- please double check with your doctor to see if it's a side effect and what form of birth control is best for you and were weight gain is a lower to no-level side effect. I started it recently and I too haven't noticed anything. Keep in mind though -- that during puberty weight gain is expected and isn't uncommon.

talk to your doctor's. he/she knows for sure which sort of pill works best for you.

Depends it may slow down digestion so if you do eat a ton you'll gain some pounds but as. The others said your doctor will know what's best.

All birth controls have mild to extreme side effects
Depending which one you choose to go on will depend on whether you gain weight
Some birth controls you don't experience any symptoms
My pills I am on caused me weight gain
Good luck you should be fine
At most you just might feel slightly bloated

Even in the worst case scenario on the pill, pregnancy would make u way fatter.

I recommend you go to a doctor first so maybe he or she can tell you which is the right one and give you more info about the pills.
