When does the next series start? And have they decided who the next doctor and assistant will be yet?

The actor who will play the 12th incarnation of the Doctor will be revealed tomorrow (Sunday the 4th), I believe. I'm not sure about the companion.

The 12th doctor is Peter Capaldi. Just finished watching the live show.

No, that doesn't make sense. Each incarnation has been getting younger, Peter Capaldi breaks consistency. PLUS he's been used before, he was a roman in the "Fires of Pompeii" episode. Using Peter Capaldi wouldn't make sense, at all.

I thinks its a good change, theres no rule about him getting younger, its just a coincidence.
Also other doctors have appeared i previous epidsodes of the show before they got the role.

The 12th Doctor is Peter Capaldi and I do believe the Companion shall remain Clara Oswin Oswald.

The next season starts when the doctor is reincarnated which is always on the Christmas special

November 23rd is the 50th anniversary.

On the Christmas special Matt Smith will regenerate into the 12th doctor.

The new doctor (Peter Capaldi) will come into it when Matt Smith regenerates in the christmas special, but in the 50th anniversary David Tennant will play the 10th doctor alongside Matt and John Hurt will also be in it as some incarnation of the doctor.
