First of all I am glad i found this site,as I wanted to share and open up.
I live with my parents who are wonderful and the best any child could imagine.
My parents are very religious and so am I also they are teetotalers and don't smoke at all. In fact my folks look like one of those nerd couples from 60's and 70's movies.
All my perception about my parents changed the day I walked in on them.
Three years ago I woke up at midnight to wish them on their wedding anniversary and saw my folks the way I had never seen them before.
I heard them laugh behind their door and knowing they were awake opened the door slightly
I saw dad with a cigar in his mouth chase mom who had a bottle of wine.
They were completely naked and drunk and had sex taking lord's name in vain.(So much for visiting Church every Sunday.)
Well I am scarred for life by the mental image that I saw that day. What bothers me more is that the act of nerdy couple that they put up in public.
I was very angry with my parents for not practicing what they preach.
I hope some one suggests to suppress my memories and help me deal with this situation.
any suggestions are welcome
Thanks

In general it's kinda scarring to see two parents having sex. Get over it. Sometimes people are religious, and don't follow it, but it sounds like they're trying to help you make the right decisions by preaching what they do. They're two married adults, having fun in the privacy of their own bedroom. So them being "nerdy and pure" (not the case they're just good people) is not an act. They're being civilized which you should be proud of.
Don't taint them in your mind because of what you saw. You're actually lucky, because not everyone has the benefit of having two parents that not only love each other but love you as well. They're not bad, and they didn't do anything bad. Just let it go. They have a healthy love life, and what seems to be a normal and happy life in general.

You're making a big deal about your parents' sex life. Really...?

Sex is sex. Humans are programmed for sex. That's our whole point. Not trying to be blunt or anything, but you'll probably grow out of it when you start seeking interest in relationship partners and/or sexual interests.
What they preach? You mean what their religion says? Religion has always been more like guidelines for public and personal ideas. The ones that take it too literally are often the ones who end up not happy with their lives at all.
If it's really that big of an issue for you, you should just sit down and talk to your parents about it. Tell them what you think and be honest. Ask questions.

Be happy your parents are having sex. That means that they love each other. They have a healthy relationship, and probably don't want a divorce. Be happy :)

Its perfectly fine by me that they are in love.
I just said I cant take the image out of my mind and I know its wrong but I must confess that I am a bit turned on by the mental image
I know its weird, that's why I asked for help and suggestion on how to suppress memories

Those thoughts aren't unholy. They're natural, and a part of growing up.

First off, welcome to VT. That's quite the horrifyingly graphic first post you got there.
Thank god my parents are divorced, because if I had to walk into that I'd rinse my eyes with bleach.
Sure, the fact that they have sex isn't a big deal (it's how you were made) but seeing it is another story. Ewww.

Well wanting something that you know u cant have is a huge turn on for some people, including myself. That's another thing too lol we talk A TON about sex in my house.....almost too much. My mom is the mom that gies out and buys you condoms and LEAVES the house when a girl comes over. And we all have very unholy thoughts ;) lol

well first of all the good image that I had of my parents being simple people was shattered the minute i walked in the room.
I mean it was shocking to see two completely different people in that room that night who had changed completely and behaved completely different under the influence of alcohol (which was always condemned and preached as bad for anybody by my mother)
Secondly I have an image of my parents from that day etched on my mind that turns me on (which is very strange as they are my parents)
I see my parents as totally different people that night and so I get aroused.
I hope i can be normal again
By the way I have sparred many details of that night as graphic description is against the policy of this forum. I have just mentioned the situation with adequate details.
and thanks for the welcome

The first : Well, sex is always good for parents i mean husband and wife, there is no problem for that;but alcohol can turn two people in two other special people with other traits.
You said that your mother knows using of alcohol bad,but that night you saw her using it,right?Well, you can ask yourself why did she use alcohol?Did she have any problem in that night,or something was bothering her?If not,so why did she use alcohol when she herself knows using it bad?
The second : It is really hard!Really do not know how to answer!Maybe the passing of the time will help you to forget it;if not,i think you'd better to be away from your family for a while for example months or even a year.
If it is not possible,I suggest you to write your imaginations about your parents on a piece of paper, and after that destroy it;You know when sth bothers me a lot in my mind,i will write anything i want on a paper and then i will destroy it to prevent other people seeing it.

i have always believed that she consumed alcohol and smoked to relax

oh i have to add the kind of language they were using was disheartening (considering they are the ones who get annoyed when they hear my friends using the F word and taking the name of Lord in the same sentence)

They are human beings having fun and religion does not dictate every single action in one's life. They get mad at you and your friends if you swear and whatnot because they want to encourage good habits in you but I have a feeling they know you probably will at some point in your life anyway.
It's really not that big a deal. It's not like they're robots that use the Bible as their programming. Like I said, they're human beings too.

Well geez, it's great that they're having intimate time together( that's kinda how they had you) but saying they don't smoke or drink and then doing just that is a little iffy. Also, taking the Lord's name in vain too, but there's no sin he doesn't forgive. They may be being hyporictical, but it's not like they killed anybody 0_0

Why do you seem surprised? They'd have to of at least once, or else you wouldn't be standing here.
It is a little, err.. scarring, yes, but after it happened to me I told my friends about it and it brought out the funny side. It was like.. it was so awkward it was funny
