That's ridiculous. 17 is over the age of consent to have sex technically and one year away from being a legal adult anyway. She wouldn't go to jail unless the OP reported her or anyone's parents did which considering the situation sounds like the last possible scenario. It's not like he's a child and, besides, if he doesn't even like her, who said anything about sex? Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill here.

Just explain to your mum that you don't like her trying to set you up with people. And then maybe explain to the girl that it's a bit of a misunderstanding and your mum was just doing a thing mothers sometimes do. Just try to reassure her that it's not because of her though... unless it is, in which case I'd still say try to reassure her to just diffuse the situation as easily as possible. But who knows? Maybe it will actually turn out well. Just chat for a bit and see what happens.

Yes, 16 and 17 are legal ages to have sex but for only 16 -17 year olds. 18 + year olds can have sex with anyone but no one younger. Its the law. And maybe his mom is one of those moms thinking that ''shes the one to marry''. And yes, she can go to jail IF someone reported her, but I was just letting him know before he gets attached to her. And no, I didnt say anything about sex.. I said ''I hope'' you guys dont do it.

That's never happened and I hope it never will. I'm still young enough for my parents to tell me to "focus on school".

The age of consent in Texas where I live is 17. The window of who they can have sex with is a 3 year window so no one over 20.
