Hello all, Newbie here. 32A breasts, strength training upper body, and have been having issues with breast pain-not normal aching after, but literally like someone is sticking a hot meat fork sideways thru both of them. I have tried several different types/sizes of sports bras, had two mammos, chatted with family doc and trainer-no answers. Currently exercising/lifting weights without a bra at all, and have had no pain. Is this common?

Maybe you might just need to get measured again to make sure your bra fits properly. its thx only thing I can think if sorry, but if your doing weights and stuff then its important your bra fits properly I would recommend getting re measured hope that helps

It must be your bra. Try a different size, or keep going without. No shame in going natural.

Yeah, female trainer said just go without too. Something to do with a "pressure reaction" and developing muscles behind. Two independent measurings concluded I AM actually an A32, so no dice from that direction.

Yeah that makes sense. Well I guess you should just listen to her, and good luck with your training :D

Strange the doctor found nothing you say mamo a x-ray I guess ? Is the pain during any particular time during times of stressful activity or period ? Any marks after wearing a bra indicating a pressure point.

Well, they thought at first I could have a soft sternum, and my muscles were actually messing with it-but xray and density checks turned out ok. They did a CT thing with the dye, to check circulation-ditto the nothing going on. No marks, no, but my nipples get darker the day after, then back to normal after about three days. The pain starts a few hours after, lasts overnight, and is gone the next morning. The soreness in the muscles targeted lasts longer.

I'd say just keep going without. I have small boobs too and dont wear a bra when i work out, unless it's all i'm wearing when running outside, for obvious reasons.

No kidding. Running kills me-joltjoltjolt. I use the weightroom at school during the year, and summer (swipecard access), so it's easy enough for me to work out bare. Most of my aerobic running happens low impact on an elliptical.

well don't know. I did pull/strain a pectoral muscle from spiking a ball during volleyball. It hurt like heck right behind and to the side of my boob. but only on one side. I didn't even know you could do that so it could be muscle strain from lifting too much.
but (and i'm not trying to be mean just honest) if you are 32A and not like 32c/d i don't know if a bra is really even nessasary for support during workouts? I mean if not wearing it fixes the issue what's the problem?

Well, I have been (football-I don't wear a bra under the shoulder pad frame) tackled a few times, and shoulder hits do in fact generate pain on the sides, but this is a little different. On the matter of support "required"-no, it isn't. I generally don't wear a bra even when I am not exercising. The premise was more modesty than anything else, as we tend to not wear shirts, and sport bras made sense due to sweat factors. One of the other girls has taken to wearing bandaids over her tips, to the same end-it is an all female group, so no issue is raised at this point.
