Your definiton of classic rock is terribly wrong... As for classifying pop rock thankfully I can't do that since I refuse to acknowledge the existance of such a genre of rock.
Neither do i understand wtf is new rock but meh.
But indeed hard to pick favorites in such a ''giant'' genre.
Right now I am really into Van Halen but my all time love might be Deep Purple or maybe Black Sabbath...

I dont see anyone yelling "Eruption!" or "Hot for Teacher!" at concerts. I always hear Freebird at almost every classic rock concert. Eddie Van Halen Cant touch anyone i like on guitar. Jeff Beck, Tony Iommi, Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman, Ed King, and Allen Collins are all the best. And i classified Pop Rock because its still apart of the genera regardless. New Rock is anything from the late 1990s to 2000s. Black Sabbath is one of the most influential rock groups ever! \m/ Metal \m/.

Classic rock isn't really a genre of music... it's a radio style in that right I suppose Lynyrd is classic. But in my book classic rock is stuff like Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley and so on.
As for arguing about who is a ''better guitar player'' neither you or me are qualified to do that and anybody that is generally doesn't stoop that low. Buuuut saying Eddie can't ''touch'' someone is just calling for a huge facepalm from me...
But anyway I have always been baffled by this ''favorite'' thing... I think anyone who can actually truly pick a ''favorite'' band or artist in any genre of music is very narrow in their choices in listening to music...
There is just so many great bands and artists around in every genre.. Especially in rock. For myself I had to say Deep Purple or Black Sabbath because of the sentimental value they hold for me. Deep Purple was the first real hard rock band I started listening to and thanks to that I really got into older hard rock like Sabbath and ''classic rock'' then to blues and so on and on
So maybe if I never had heard that Deep Purple CD I would not like the music I like today or listen to as much music as I do today and as I am now I find that unimagineable since music is such a big part of my free time and interests.

I see what you mean but i also stand by what i said. Listen to Hammerhead by Jeff Beck and Machine Gun (Live at the Isle Of Wright) and you will see what i mean. I have a Spotify account and i have 1640 songs and i listen to most people in the genres i mentioned before. It would be more but some bands arent on Spotify. And anything over 25 years is a classic, atleast thats what ive seen in Record Books. Both Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin and Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd have had so much radio play that it equals 40 years worth. More now because that was about 10 years ago. Ive never really liked Van Halen for the same reason i dont like Guns and Roses. Its how they act. Some of there songs are kind of stupid to me. Hot for Teacher as an example just seems crudely done. The kicked their bassist out of the band and didnt tell him. He had to hear it from some one else, and i wont support people that back stab like that. I have a wide variety of music i listen to and i try to show all of it. I listen to blues, traditional country, funk, rock of all kinds, metal, and grunge.
Oh and before i forget, theres a boy that is named Yuto that plays some really bad ass guitar and even played at lollapalooza and with Ozzy. Check out some of his Youtube videos.

If not liking a groups music has to do with their behaivour or actions then come on Led Zeppelin's plagarism doesn't bother you?
It does me when I think about it a little but really when I listen to music I listen to music. It's obviously awesome if the musician you like also happens to be an awesome person in other areas (in your view) but that doesn't make me like their music any more or less.

I do listen to people other people would call "assholes" so music does play a role. Like i said some of Van Halens music just seems crude to me.
And what do you mean Led Zeppelins plagiarism? I know they got in a little trouble for having Zeppelin in there name and for a short time had it changed to Earth(i think).

Just go to youtube and type in ''Led Zeppelin Plagarism'' you should get a few videos.
Some examples are bullshit like Led Zeppelin ripping Stairway to Heaven from Spirit - Taurus though there is a small riff there that is the same Page was friends with the band members and I think he even had some tour with them + the songs more than one verse.
But there are some pretty clear cut ones... Like Dazed & Confused and so on.
I do believe there was some legal doo doo protecting Zeppelin in the end but overall plagarism is plagarism even if the music made is awesome.

True, but in that case alot of people would have done plagiarism. Some i think have improved some more then others. Blackfoot and The Outlaws both did songs that sound very similar but not as good as Freebird. The guitar solo gives it away. And would Hendrix be guilty of it to? Most people, some not intentional, have had songs that sound like other songs before. What really troubles me is when they copyright something that doesnt belong to just them. Axl Rose had Guns and Roses name copy written so that no one could use it but him, and he wasnt the one that made the name! Tracy Guns came up with it. Everyone is guilty, some times its just inspiration and the song ends up sounding similar.

This is not a debate over the definition of different types of rock music. Let's please keep it that way.
Anyways, I am more into the pop/rock and pop/metal kind of music when it comes to rock. I like Van Halen (post DLR, because honestly...he can't sing his way out of a paper bag), Def Leppard, .38 Special, Aerosmith, Extreme (and all off-shoots of it). That type of stuff. I like guitars, and singers who can actually sing.

Right now I've been on a really big Coheed and Cambria kick. They just have a way of making some really accessible progressive-esque music. It's nothing too progressive, but still falls into the category, in my book. I really enjoy the music, the story, the double meaning behind each song (one meaning for the story, one for personal matters), and the energy the band has.
Other bands that have been on my go-to for right now are:
Streetlight Manifesto
A Day To Remember
Protest The Hero
Pierce The Veil
