I'm moving into college on Aug 13th and I'm just really nervous about the whole situation. I have multiple problems when it comes to college, so if you could please help me out on any of them I would be super happy!
1. Social Aspect: I have NEVER been a social person. I have really good friends, and I've gone out and hung out with them several times, but I usually always stayed in my house. I'm nervous as to what to do during college. At my college we have a week long orintation, there is stuff planned out for us, but there are hours long gaps between some sessions. I don't know what to do during that time. I would want to stay in my room and just read or play a game or something, and I would be perfectly happy with that, but with a roommate that might not be possible.
2. Roommate: Speaking of my roommate he is the biggest thing I am worried about. I've friended him on facebook and he is the EXACT opposite of me. He is skinny, buff, out going, involved in his church and community, white, and honestly he is pretty attractive. He is rushing for a frat too (he said since his brother was in that frat and it seemed like a good way to make friends). This may not seem like a big deal, but that means the odds of him bringing friends over into our room would increase dramatically and the odds of bringing home a date for "fun" go up to. I'm nervous about this. I'm just nervous about how we will get a long. I've talked to him and he seems to be a somewhat chill dude who has a "this is mine, and that is yours" mentality (he doesn't want to share anything). He says he is a nerd, but what I've seen of him that isn't true. He also said this to me when I mentioned bringing my high school friends over sometimes, "I'd rather there'd not be like a ton of people in and out of the room. I mean I don't care if we have guests I just meant that I don't really want people to stay over." Which idk what it all means. I doubt he is just talking about people spending the night.
3.Weight and Appearance: I'm a really heavy set dude (man boobs and all). I'm not completely round, but I'm pretty big. One of the biggest causes for that is my parents. They give me food for literally everything (all of it unhealthy) and I literally get in trouble when I don't eat all my food. The other cause is just my laziness. I've been to the doctor and he told me that I naturally have a fast metabolism (since I was underweight most my life), and I don't even really have to change my diet I just need to start moving. I really want to lose weight, but idk how to at college. My college has a gym, but I don't have the money to afford it, plus I would feel weird exercising in there. Also I can't exercise in my dorm room since I am living with someone. Suggestions?
If you could please give me advice on any of these issues or college just in general I would be more than thankful!
