There is a difference between having a six pack and being skinny, so that could be it. But teenagers have more energy than adults so I guess it could be that.

Alot of it does have to do with the increase in hormones and testosterone, However it is mainly genetics.

I beg to differ, the muscles in your abdomen have to be built before you can see them... Even with skinny people you won't find abs.... It's seen through out history actually

I think it's easier to gain muscles as long as you work out I guess.

I know... I meant maybe he is mistaking his flat stomach for a six pack. I believe that is what I wrote

Funflight is correct during puberty other hormones and testosterone affect muscle growth/development as we go through puberty our muscles grow and become broader until about age 21 or 22. Genetics also play a factor in a males muscle mass.

do not try to achieve a six pack because it will stunt your growth in puberty!

Its possible that the process of gaining muscle is quicker due to an increase in hormones working to develop muscle.

Yeah I just got my physical done the other day and the doctor said that when going through puberty since the testosterone levels are really high then obviously your going to put on muscle really easy when going through puberty.

In some words yes, or some people no. It's different for everybody. But as an overall sort of general saying, during puberty people start to get muscle rapidly as they grow into an adult. This comes easier for others and for some not. I know several people in your situation that just eat healthy and don't do much and can get abs if they sit around all day. Consider yourself lucky! :) I just don't gain weight or muscle. .__.

Testosterone is the natural anabolic steroid. From puberty onwards it is easier to gain muscle though the effect will decline with testosterone levels in old age.

Testosterone also affects fat and fat distribution causing guys to have a smaller percentage of body fat than girls.

Both of these effects help towards having a visible six pack.
