View Full Version : I Feel Like The Only Teen Who Hasn't

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE I know has had alcohol at least once before, but most of them multiple times. I've never ever drank in my life. I feel kind of left out honestly. Even my best friend likes to party and drink, obviously without me. I'm not planning on drinking, but that feeling of being the only one kills me sometimes. Does anyone else here not drink/ feel like that?

I don't drink...

July 26th, 2013, 09:31 PM
I haven't and I most certainly will never. There are such better alternatives, like soda, green tea, WATER....
It's just a temporary escape from reality, addicts and then kills.
Plus if it doesn't kill you, it makes your hair white and your skin wrinkled REALLY young.

I don't because I personally don't like the taste... and just the smell is enough to turn me off.

There's plenty here who don't drink. You must just be focusing on those who do. I've sipped a tiny bit here and there, or had 10% mixed with 90% soda. You're not missing much.

If you don't want to then you shouldn't. Good for you to have the will power to resist. I love to drink but a lot of times I wish I never started because once I got addicted it became a really expensive past time.

Yeah I am kind of focusing on those who do because where I'm from, literally everyone does. It's weird to come across teenagers who don't. It really at one point got me wondering, does everyone seriously drink or?!

I was thinking about those on the internet who talk about it, but where you live makes a difference too. What country, what part of that country. It's not too hard to get alcohol in Japan. You can even get beer and sake from vending machines. So lots of kids I know drink. I'm not really one of them nor my nearly 15 year old brother. We only drink a little once in a while, usually just a swig or two.

There's nothing wrong with not drinking. Drinking doesn't make you "cool" anyway. Personally, I do drink, but that's because I enjoy it.
It's not for everybody, though. It makes some people do shit they regret. Like getting really emotional, or getting really frustrated and going off on people, and/or getting in fights. Some people can't control alcohol.

My advice to you, is don't drink if you don't want to. Don't succumb to peer pressure. Make your own decisions in life.

I don't, at least very little. I have a very small sip of red wine every week as part of a Jewish religious ceremony called Kiddush, but as I don't believe in it I rarely participate. But other than that none. You're not alone.

I have had alcohol before but honestly I don't think its a bad thing not to drink I don't enjoy alcohol as much and therefore you've got nothing to be shamed of and you aren't really missing out.

I can't speak for everyone. but can for me. yes I drink. its something my Father started me on when I was 4. I started making and sampling mixed drinks at about 7. I can't say its a problem for me yet. but, since my Grand Father and my Father were alcoholics; my x step dad is an alcoholic I'd say its possible.
seriously if its something you haven't started...don't.

I never did drugs or alcohol. I'm glad I haven't too because that's extra stress I don't need.

I've never drank, no. Quite honestly I don't ever plan on drinking within my lifetime, there seems to be more cons to drinking than there are pros.

The silent majority don't drink. Also a lot of people may be like me who rarely drink, but when they do they get stories from it, so we will tell a story that makes us seem like heavy drinkers when in reality it is like a once a year thing.

I'm a pretty heavy drinker.
But I have absolutely no judgement against those who don't.
Hell, i have respect for you!
It takes a stronger person to not drink than to submit.
Don't fall into peer pressure.
Drink if you want to. (In moderation preferably)
But never because your pushed.
And always in a safe environment if your considering it.

Thanks for your opinions everyone. :D
I don't know, sometimes I feel pressured, but I don't want to go down that road. If it really gets to the point where I want to, I'm going to try the non alcoholic beer and stuff first.

I do smoke pot, sometimes.

I've only ever had alcohol once, and it was a wine cooler. Didn't even taste like it had alcohol, just tasted like an orange soda o.O.

But, yea, I know where you're coming from.
I don't like to drink though, and you shouldn't be worried about being 'left out.' Trust me, you're not missing much other than headaches and throwing up and falling down XD. I just like to watch and laugh. You should do the same!

I drink occasionally but if you feel like you're being left out just kick back 1 beer. It won't do any harm and hopefully you will feel better.

Ultimately alcohol is a depressant and not a stimulant, so you're not missing out on that much, being so drunk you make a fool of yourself or start throwing up isn't all that great either, granted a small amount to boost your confident is pleasant, it's not a massive deal at all, if you can have fun without the alcohol you're a lot cooler than the people who need to get wasted to have a good time :p

okay this is just dumb >_<
you dont see the whole spectrum but only black and the white,

I've had friends who started drinking way before me, I've had friends who still haven't drank anything, and I frankly dont care, this is not a thing to cause you feel left out,

drinking alcohol doesn't make you a better person than those people who don't,
not drinking alcohol doesn't make you a better person than those who do!!

I'm not saying it makes someone better or worse, just that it's definitley unhealthy, which you can't argue with >.>

oh yes i can,
you all think that if someone says "I drink" it automatically means he's a drunk every other day, get a grip guys,

Moderate drinking IS in fact beneficial to your health, take wine, either red or white, gin, whiskey, there's plenty more.
Everybody knows that too much of anything is unhealthy, so it would be stupid to say too much alcohol is healthy,

I don't know what they're teaching you in schools or what kind of lies your parents are telling you, but mine were, thank god, straight forward and explained things and cut the B$, especially my Biologist who got red diploma, she would not only talk about the effects of moderate or severe drinking, but also how one type of alcohol differs from the other, and she would also add in addiction facts from psychology.

But I guess if a person is brainwashed easily like this, they better stay away from alcohol :D

don't follow the herd

I'm not one of those people who's gonna talk about not drinking because alcohol kills blah blah blah. buif you handle it well its fine. in fact studies have shown that if you drink 2 times per week you live longer.

if you wanna then go ahead but be smart about it. if you don't then don't

I think not drinking alcohol is the best way to go. When I have drunk, it has been at parties and I have usually ended up puking or passing out and waking up in my bed.
Alcohol leads to a lot of issues, and staying away from binge drinking is really the thing to do although I find it hard. When you enjoy it, you start to drink more often and at one point I got pretty depressed and drunk quite a lot to make me feel better which I'm personally ashamed of.

I love alcohol. But I know a guy that is the same as you. In my opinion you have to try it. There are many reasons that I am telling that. First of all safety reasons. You have to know how it tastes in order to avoid it if you want. Secondly for me a drink once a week is like a travel to heaven. But it is compeletly normal not to like it.

Well i drink but i never caught drunk i dont want to get drunk because i think its pointless to drink untill you are drunk .. if you get drunk what you get?? nothing just a bad headache the next morning :/ . i drink a little bit once or twice per month no more :p

There's nothing wrong with not drinking at all, that's your choice and is more healthy! But do remember that not all alcoholic drinks taste the same and just because you drink doesn't mean you're going to get drunk or addicted. I may often have a beer or some wine or something if I'm with some friends, sometimes having dinner etc. but I can count the times I've been anywhere near tipsy on one hand and am not addicted.
