View Full Version : Pansexual?

It's really depressing that people don't recognize pansexual people on here. I can love anyone regardless of who they are or what genitals are attached to their body. Pansexual means you can like guys, girls, or/and transgenders. I am pansexual and proud. If you're pansexual you should post that on here and tell me how you finally realized you were :) or even if you're only bisexual. I love hearing stories about that. And if you need anything feel free to come to me. I've been through things you couldn't even imagine and I'm here to support people. So talk to me. :):D

I don't understand why pansexuality should be idenified as a sexual orientation.
You're either heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual
You are either female or male.
everything else is just personal preference on what you find most attractive.
Transgenders are the gender they feel and act like, as well as which they dress like and identify as .
Pansexuality makes it seem like you're categorizing 'transgender' as a gender when it is not.
Bisexuality is attraction to both genders. Everyone is either a girl or boy.simple as that.
Am I making sense?

I understand what you're thinking but the fact is I know bisexual people who would not date a transgender because they want a guy with a penis or a girl with a vagina. Which is where pansexuality comes into play. I could care less if my girlfriend had a penis or my boyfriend had a vagina. Not every bisexual person feels that way. Make sense?

Your definition of pansexuality isn't entirely true, a pansexual will pursue the person they are attracted to regardless of that persons, gender or sexuality. So for example, a male pansexual may be attracted to a lesbian women but this would not stop him from trying.

Pansexuality is very uncommon, more or less rare, so nobody really mentions it. As bisexuality and homosexuality are more common, they're more talked about.

Some people would be uncomfortable knowing the person they are sexually involved with was once a different gender. I honestly don't see why, because I've never been in the situation, but some people do, so pansexuality exists. I'm sure a lot of bi people are in reality pan but they just never thought about it.

I mostly agree with this.
Though, I can understand what the above poster is saying that could possibly differentiate between pansexuality and bisexuality.

I always thought of pansexuality being different.. lik of course ok with a boy, a girl, a girl with a penis, a boy with a vagina, etc. But. I know that a lot of bisexuals have preferences as to which gender they are more attracted to, while pansexuals don't, and will take anything if it's love. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not pansexual (I like girls) but that was always my understanding.
I have always recognized pan as a sexuality, I just say LGBTQ covering that whole area, though it does not specify pan.

You're forgetting asexual.

It shouldn't matter how one defines himself or herself. I feel that pansexuality is just a different degree of bisexuality (of course not forgetting that pansexuals don't care about one's sexuality/organs). No idea why it needs its own name (don't get offended).

Why not?

Why not?
Because it is essentially bisexuality with some tweaks. It's not the issue that pansexuals don't deserve the recognition but more so that it causes confusion between the general public.

"Pansexual means you can like guys, girls, or/and transgenders." Yeah, that's a definition.

I guess some don't mention it because pansexuality is like an open book. The person will love anyone but they count transgender as a gender and like transgendered people which draws the line to boy or girl, gay or straight, bi or asexual. Pansexuality is probably rarer and it seems a bit more like an open book.

You're forgetting asexual.
I really have a problem accepting asexual as a sexuality because it the lack of being sexual.

Fair enough. My thought is, if you want to call yourself something, whatever, go for it.

No offense, but I think that the word "pansexual" is redundant. That being said, I identify myself as a bisexual. I think it'd be hot to be with a girl with a penis, but not so hot to be with a guy with a vagina. That throws me off for some reason, but no big deal.
Since you asked, I officially realized that I liked girls when I was attending a birthday party when I was 14. The guys went home that day and us girls had a slumber party. I had been having feelings towards girls that freaked me out because I live in the deep south and that doesn't bode too well here. But to spare you all the dirty details, I'll just say that that night after the lights went out my bed mate and I secretly fooled around under the covers while all the other girls in the room talked until they fell asleep. We both accepted and embraced the fact that we were lesbians and I ended up being with that girl for a very long time... Until I started to realize I still liked boys as well and that just drove a wedge into our relationship. It was a very sad ordeal, lol.
So yeah...

I do too but I seem to have had some ways like some asexual people although asexual isn't really the right word.

You can call a duck a bear but it doesn't change what the duck actually is.

You're either heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual
You are either female or male.
I really hate black and white thinking.
I get what you mean in that transgenders are truly the gender they feel like, but when I hear that I cringe. There's so much more than hetero, homo, and bi, and male and female.
I believe in gender fluidity and gender neutrality. I believe we have no mental gender beyond what our hormones do to our personalities, that it is a creation of our culture. And also, that you can be both, more female one day and more male the other. Male and female are energies. Yin and yang. I'm a yin, but every yin has at least a little yang.
Also, sexuality isn't that simple. What about homoromantic bisexuals? Heteromantic asexuals? Panromantic homosexuals? Bronies? (sorry)
The same thing goes though. If your heterosexual, shouldn't you be into a MTF? No, you are heterosexual. I had a MTF hit on me once and it was a nightmare for me, because I couldn't come up with a way to let her down without saying something extremely rude that I didn't mean. I'm into feminine girls. Everything that makes a girl, a girl. I love girls! I'm not into transgender girls.
Pansexual makes that distinction. They are into MTF, FTM, people who haven't transitioned, have no intention of transitioning, mentally a woman but wants to keep her penis, born with varying genitalia, third sex, or gender neutral people. Not all bisexuals can say that.

Bisexual, is like homosexual or heterosexual. Only your attracted to both genders. I'm a pansexual. I believe that love is what you feel for another person's spirit, not for the physical body. I go both ways but I'm not attracted to either gender over the other, nor am I specifically attracted to one gender. I just... Like personality. If you're a girl and you're perfect for me, than great. If you're a dude and you're perfect for me, than great. It's all about soul, not physical boundaries.
Sorry, saw this and had to say that

I'm pansexual:) i found out I liked girls when i had a big crush on this girl in 8th grade out of the blue. She was so perfect, but i was really confused at that point because i wasn't really aware of sexualities. Everyone was basically just straight. I only knew one girl out of everyone i came across in 8th grade who was public about her sexuality. But i know im pansexual because i would be just fine being in love with a person who's transgender, gender fluid, or doesn't want to be labeled with a gender.
