Hi, so I just joined a gym, and have been going for about 3 weeks. I do some cardio and some working out with weight machines (no free weights). Does anyone have any recommendations as far as what exactly to do to see toning results? Thanks!

First start eating right i.o fix your diet.
Then start thinking about how you work out.
Also why no free weights...

Ok like the guy above me said you need to start eating right. Also take protein.
And also what are you looking to gain? Strength or Mass or Lose weight?
Because those all factor in on what your looking to do.

I've definitely been trying to eat right, and I'm not opposed to free weights. I just don't know how to use them and don't want to end up hurting myself. I want to work on strengthening my core and pec muscles mostly. That's really why I joined the gym.

Yea because there are different kinds of protein that do different things. Like weight gaining kinds and others.
Also if you don't like what I say don't say anything.

Also if you don't like what I say don't say anything.my point is that you have stated take protein in 2 threads and im sure pretty much every person that wants to workout should know to take protein. their isn't such thing as a weight gain protein, its a chemical that works besides protein, not the protein its self
you're also saying to "take protein" like its some sort of supplement

Well, this might not be what you want, but I have a pretty kick-ass leg/calf workout I do everyday.
20 Squats.
30 lunges
40 calf raises
50 second wall squat.
100 jumping jacks
50 second wall squat.
40 summon squats
30 leg raises
and then finish it off with 20 more squats

Protein shakes ARE a supplementyes but its really not necessary to take protein shakes for all you're protein, there usually meant for if you can't get all your protein from solid foods

Packing on size and building muscle is simple:
Train Insane
Eat Big
Rest and Repeat
If you are looking for a good basic workout routine that will help you pack on size then check out the bulkin section of our website in the desciprtion.
NOTE!! You won't put on any size if you aren't eating right so get your diet down first. To the peopl chatting shit about protein shakes. If you want to build muscle you need to be eating good, NATURAL sources of protein. They win hands down every single time. Tuna, Chicken, Turkey, Beef. I've said it in other threads and i will say it here. Get AT LEAT 1g of protein per lb of bodyweight.
If you really want to take shakes then that is fine. They are a good post workout protein supplement as they provide FAST DIGESTING protein compared to natural sources. BUT i woudl recommend that NO MORE than 30% of your protein intake should be from shakes.
WORKOUT BASICS: If you are going into the gym to just build your pecs and abs you are going to look F***** stupid. Trust me, that will cause you all kinds of muscle imbalances and a-symmetry. Start off with a 3 day split, monday, wednesday, friday. Seperate the days into:
chest and triceps
Legs and shoulders
back and biceps
Make sure you are doing heavy compound movements at the beignning of your workouts and finishing off with isolation exercises. Train to failure each and every set. You willbuild all kinds of muscle.
For a comprehensive workout routine check out our website.
Hope this helps

You could do any one of these plans, but ultimately need to find something that you're comfortable with and that suits your needs
