So...does anybody still play this game? I have it and I love it. I have all the characters but not all the stages. I just unlocked and started using Mr. Game and Watch and holy shit, he's amazing. So, feel free to discuss your favorite characters, maps, whatever.

I love Mewtwo. But they just had to remove him and add Lucario in Brawl... It's really fun. :D

That's odd because I used to love Mewtwo and now...I just hate him. I love Marth and now G&W. I'm best with them or Link? What about you?

I do really good with Samus for some reason. I win most of the time with her.

She's pretty good. You know what character I hate? Yoshi. That thing is so damn cheap with its double jump. I think I've KO'd it and it comes back. Like, WTF? Didn't I just use an attack that should kill you? Grr.

I discovered the Smash Bros. Series when I went to a cousins house years ago and played melee for the first time.

I asked the name of the game, they told me and it stuck in my head for about 4-5 years I think until I finally got melee. My response, was fucking amazed.

I completed the shit out of it and then discovered brawl. It took a few years for me to get that as well, but I got it.

Since, I've only played melee once. For whatever reason I love brawl a lot more, but since my copy has been damaged, and I'm getting a replacement soon, it should be nice to give melee another go.

I'm a bit rusty, but I used to kick anyone's ass with Falco or Roy.

How do you beat the event in Melee where you have to fight Master Hand and Crazy Hand at the same time? I keep getting my ass kicked....

Meganium

It is unbelievably hard.

My method was to go with Link and pogo-stick the crap out of crazy hand, and then go to master hand with the same thing plus bombs.

They actually had this game at EVO a few weeks ago, it was entertaining however I am still pissed that they included this game and not SoulCalibur V or Virtua Fighter 5.

Melee has been a tradition at EVO for AGES now.

To ask for something else or for it to be taken out would cause an uproar. Just this year Nintendo tried to stop their stream of the tournament, (and possibly the whole tournament altogether) but gamers lost their shit and Nintendo withdrew their statement within an hour.

Melee is staying, bro.

Well I saw a video on Youtube and the user killed MH first. Would it really matter that much?

If you're skilled, then no, but generally, Crazy Hand is a much tougher opponent for most people. I strongly advise taking him down first, as his moves are too unpredictable.

Synyster Shadows
July 26th, 2013, 11:37 AM
Well think about this: Master Hand is the easier one, right? Wouldn't it make sense to take out the easy one first, while avoiding CH, and then have that sense of confidence and take out CH second?

If you're thinking about it as "one is strong, one is strong as fuck", then no. You'd take the most strategic way out. If you think of them as just two opponents, then yeah, that would make sense, but deep down you'd still know that taking down MH isn't much of an achievement, as you've done it tons of times beforehand.

Oh, true. I guess that makes sense. I'll try your method, even though I'll probably get my ass kicked 100 times. :lol3:

I got mine kicked about triple that, but keep at it and it'll get done, I assure you.

(Btw, 100th post! :woot: )

I never said I wanted them to take out melee, however the fact that they still took out Virtua Fighter and SoulCalibur got me pissed off.

Ah. I wasn't aware that they were in EVO before.

But still, they seem to have new tournaments each year, so it's only expected that SoulCalibur and Virtua Fighter be replaced. Melee is just the one constant.

Why would they be replaced if they are traditional fighting franchises like Tekken or King of Fighters?

Maybe their focus is to bring in the next installment of each game whenever possible. SoulCalibur nor Virtua Fighter were in it for a couple of years now I think.

It may have been popular back then, but now the focus is being put into new fighters. Granted, Smash is old, but it is remarkably popular.

SoulCalibur V came out in 2012, so that makes no sense.

My bad. I'm thinking of IV.

Well shit. I got nothing then.

What was your completion time when you finally beat event #50?

Meganium
July 26th, 2013, 05:51 PM
I think it was like 9:50 or something like that when I finally got it. I'll need to check be sure.

I completely forgot about the events! Damn, I think I have a couple more complete. Guess I should get cracking.

I've been playing Super Smash Brothers since I was 4 (the original), and I've gotten both Melee and Brawl and played a TON. I won't be getting the new one coming out since I don't have a Wii U, and I don't want one, but I'm sure it'll be great like the others.

9:50? Seriously? The best I've done so far (didn't beat them) is 1:30 w/ CH @ 27% and MH @ like 250%

Meganium
July 26th, 2013, 07:10 PM
Yeah. It took me a while. Especially with my strategy. I spent a lot of time just dodging.

Synyster Shadows
July 26th, 2013, 08:57 PM
Hmm...I probably need to dodge more...

See, when I try Event 50, I get unusually aggressive. In regular melees, I'm usually somewhat passive and prefer to counterattack but in this event, for whatever reason, I feel like I need to be aggressive and I end up getting my ass busted. :whoops:

Meganium
July 26th, 2013, 09:03 PM
That is precisely how I was. But being patient, especially in a fight like that will certainly get results.

What's the best character to use, and someone who isn't too slow but not too light either

I really wish my copy was working. Fuck you, 12 year-old idiot of a brother.
Well, at least the new Smash Bros will have Mega Man, and as for my short supply of Gamecube games, I have Metroid Prime to play.

In general? Fox or Marth. Mobile, and devastating.

In event #50? Again, I go with Link, but characters with brute strength can manage as well, if you're one hell of a dodger.

Synyster Shadows
July 29th, 2013, 08:58 AM
Well, yeah, E50. I'm generally good with Marth and Link. But it seems like Link is too slow for this event. Have you tried it with Marth?

I tried a few times, but I'm not amazing with Marth. He's a bit too fast for me. And Roy isn't much better against these two.

Although, Marth is a good, more controllable alternative for characters such as Fox or Captain Falcon, as he's much easier to stop on foot.
