Currently I am on an antibiotic for my acne called Lymecycline I have been on it for about 5 months now and not much change has happened I still have really severe acne! So I was wondering if anybody knows what I maybe prescribed to next, I have an appointment with the Dermatologist for next week, so I would like to do some research on the antibiotics I may be given and also any tips on helping me get rid of severe acne, thanks :)

What were you prescribed before lymecycline? Is it your first antibiotic, or did you take something else before it?

In that case, you will probably get a different antibiotic commonly used for acne. Here (http://dermatology.about.com/cs/antibiotics/a/acneabx.htm) are the most common ones. I can't predict which, if any, of these your dermatologist will choose. However, most antibiotics used for acne have similar effects. The exact one that you take is for you and your dermatologist to decide.
I was given tetracycline and minocycline for acne. Neither of them caused significant side effects, but neither of them worked very well for me.
My best advice for treating severe acne is to listen to your doctor. Tell them if a treatment isn't working so that they can switch you to a more effective one. It's important to treat severe acne to minimize permanent scarring.
I hope whatever treatment your doctor gives you is effective. Antibiotics work well for most people, though they didn't work for me.

i take Minocycline, and it works awesome!
but the best advice iver gotten, clean pillow case. your head spends the whole night on it, so any dirt, sweat, grease from the night before is there waiting to go back onto your face again

I used to take a lot of different stuff that didn't work very well, then my dermatologist put me on Decutan (same thing as Accutane) which worked like a charm, i wouldn't recommend it for everyone though as you have to give up a lot of things while on it.

I don't know about the antibiotics, but washing my face with a gentle face scrub a couple of times a week, the rest of the days use a normal oil controlling face wash, although this never made a massive impact on my acne, I could definitely feel my skin wasn't as horrible, keep your hair clean too, greasy hair (and I'm not saying you have greasy hair ofc) just adds to the oil in your skin which never helps, they'll go eventually believe me, I've been on meds for years on and off for acne, I've got a lot better, you just need to find the right tablets for you :)

I have been given Doxycycline for a couple of months to take once a day in the morning. I currently use wipes to clean my face before I go to sleep, I then put sudocrem on my spots and then I wash in the morning but I was wondering if anybody has any other tips on reducing my spots, I read online that I should be cleansing so I had a look in Asda (Walmart) and found this and was just wondering if it looks any good or does anybody recommend something else? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B000T1XQXS/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?ref_=pd_sim_beauty_1

unless the sudocrem is clearly helping tbh I wouldn't, you're clogging your pores up more which could lead to more spots :c

Okay I've stopped using sudocrem as it wasn't doing much, I have also recently started breaking out even more since I have received these new pills, I also bought this face steamer as I read somewhere that this will help.
