Okay, so this day started the same way any other school morning did. I got up, took a shower, and did the rest of my morning routine. I got to school, and went to first and second hour. Then 3rd hour started. That was study hall. (I went on here a lot in that class.) I got to work as usual. Towards the end of the hour, I decided to check my planner to make sure I didn't have anything else to do. I couldn't find my planner at first, so I went to the bottom of my back pack..
I saw the planner and something... else. the something else was my AIRSOFT Sig Sauer SP2022 replica. I didn't know it was an airsoft gun at first because the muzzle was covered up, so I couldn't see the little orange tip. At this point, I thought I had a .40 S&W at school! I was freaking out. Like on a scale from 1 being totally chill to 10 being "holy shit! What the--- ahhh!" I was a 12. I managed to remain calm until the end of the hour. After that was lunch where I pulled my best friend Chris, and my girlfriend, Mariah to the side to ask them what I should do. Chris and Mariah both agreed that I should go to the main office and turn it in and take responsibility. I really was not expecting that out of either of them because Mariah has a history of getting into trouble at school, and Chris is kind of a care free guy.
I was very, very hesitant at first, but then I realized that it was the right thing to do, and if I get suspended, I'd know that it was the right thing to do. Okay, so I got to the office and said these words exactly:
"Hi... Um.. I made a huge mistake and I need to turn something in."
It took like 30 seconds to mutter those words. The receptionist asked me what it was, and I said it was an outragiously realistic airsoft gun replica that I accidentally left in my backpack from an airsoft war the night before. (That's exactly what happened. I wasn't lying.)
She said I needed to talk with the dean. At this point, I was positive that they were going to suspend or expell me. When I walked in, the dean said:
"Don't worry. You're doing the adult thing here. There's no need to worry. Just hand me the gun." He sounded like a hostage negotiater...
So I reached in my back pack, and gave him it. You have no idea how weird it felt to take a gun out (even though it was only airsoft) in a school office and give it to someone. Well I handed it to him, and he said: "okay. You can call your mom and she will pick this up for you." Then he thanked me for doing what most kids would never even think about doing in this situation and that my mom will be proud. (she was.)
the moral of this story is that, you should always do the right thing in situations where you could easily just get away with it.
Sorry if that didn't fit the specs to be in this new great section, but yeah. That's my story of a bad situation that I turned into a good one because of my girlfriend and my best friend.
Thanks for reading. :)
