Lately I've been having some suspicions about a friend of mine and whether he's gay or not. The basis of my thought is that his mom and aunt are always talking to me about if he actually talks to any girls or not (not that I know of) and how they were going to set him and his buddy up for prom (he's going to be a junior). Every time he's around these conversations he seems more uncomfortable than normal (quiet, introverted, etc). Another thing is that he was a starter of the football team as a sophomore, so he could probably get any girl he wants cuz he's sort of a jock. Any thoughts?

Don't assume. If he's gay, and he wants to come out to you, he'll do it at his own pace. Don't rush the process.

If he isn't gay, then you would look bad by assuming that he was.

IMHO, he's just a normal guy who gets shy around girls and the constant pressure from his mom and aunt only pushes him further into shyness while making him upset they do not mind their own business.

The idea of being a jock = getting all the girls is way overrated. Do not assume he's gay just because he has problems talking to girls.

Does it matter to you if he's gay or not?

I like that you care enough to come here and ask. I'm going to assume you're here because if he is gay you want to help him. Let him come out at his own pace. It might help to defend him in front of his aunt and mom, politely, when they ask you about him and girls. I'm closeted and my parents and friends always make me very uncomfortable asking me about any girls I'm into. If you'll be his friends no matter if he's gay or not just make it clear that your his friend and your not going anywhere no matter what he tells you. Good Luck man.
