What are your opinions on them?
I am fairly comfortable labelling myself a lesbian, but really I'm just me. There are sooo many labels out there (It could take months to read all the wikipedia pages on labels, believe me, when I was still figuring myself out I read a lot of them) is it all really necessary?

I think that labeling yourself is fine. You should be happy with who you are. But, I think that labeling turns bad when other people start being stupid. For example, using words like "faggot" or using the word gay as a derogative word.

I agree!
But what about, say, the mtf trans that is an asexual, and a bit of an aromantic but not completely, is bisexual when the attraction comes out. I don't think there is a label for that, so does that person have to make one up? Why can't they just say 'I'm me'?

I'd say labels were good if people didn't struggle so much to find the right one to use. In the end they really are just words. They only have as much power as we give.

I actually like labels. It's re-assuring to me that I can think of myself as male and straight and tall and sophomore, and you know.. It is just easier.
That doesn't mean labels can't become problematic. When words like "retard" and "fag" begin to be thrown around, then it turns bad.

Well, I think that you could just say, "Hey sometimes I like men, sometimes I like women, sometimes I don't like either." I mean, if you want to label yourself, that's okay. But if you just want to say "I'm me", that's fine too.

I think it's fine when you label yourself, but not when other people label you. If a boy likes boys, it's not your job to go and tell them "You're gay." We should just let people call themselves whatever instead of squeezing them into boxes of preconceived notions.
