View Full Version : Incredibly Shock-Sensitive S3

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3, which as of late appears to be strangely sensitive to the point where sometimes I can give the touch screen a sharp tap with my index finger, and the phone will deactivate itself.
It also does this if I have the phone in my pocket. I can tell it's not the power button pressing against my leg because it will either vibrate or make a noise twice if that were the case. It will only vibrate once if it gets bumped.
I looked up this problem in the past, when it was less frequent, but I haven't gotten many answers on it.
Anybody else have a problem like this? Or have advice on what to do?

check to see if the battery contacts aren't bent enough to touch the battery. i assume by "deactivate" you mean turn-off.

Funny, I actually just did that yesterday. It was displaying a battery problem saying it was disconnected while the phone was charging, but I checked it and it was fine. That message hasn't appeared again since.

wait, how can the phone notify you that the battery isnt connected if it needs a battery connected to notify anything?
the other option is that there is something loose in the phone. I've heard this problem before.

That's what I was wondering. It was plugged in, so maybe it stays on while connected to the wall without the battery. (some phones do, some don't.)
What would be loose?

the S3 doesn't have any sort of power without a battery.
not sure but heres a couple questions:
-What is the android version?, rooted?, any mods?, carrier?, version (international, U.S., etc.)?.
-How long have you had it?
-Are you saying that it vibrates when you tap it sharply and then turns off?

Android version: 4.1.2
Not rooted, no mods, etc.
U.S
About 4 months almost.
The screen will go black immediately after I tap it and within 2 seconds it will make a brief vibration and just stay off. Power it back on the normal way. Very rarely the phone will reset rather than totally shut down.
