So last night I shaved my pubes for the second time. It was a long time since I shaved them, and they were at least 2 1/2 inches long. So I took my razor and just started at the shaft and moved away in the the opposite direction my hair grows. Took about 20 mins, but eventually got mist of it all gone. Felt really itchy and annoying when I went to bed, and it still is when something rubs against my crotch. So do I have razor burn, and how do I shave effectively, what dies trimming mean. Trimming as in like scissors or something?

Well, you said that your pubic area is irritated, but is the skin red? If the skin is red and bumpy, than that is called razor burn. Otherwise, it may just be irritated since, as you said, you hadn't shaved for a while.
I've never shaved my pubic hair, so I can't give you any directions or information on that.
Trimming your pubic hair is when you use scissors to shorten the hair, but you don't shave it all down. In a more simple sense, you're basically giving yourself a pubic haircut!
I have trimmed my pubic hair before, and never had any issues with irritation from that, so you may want to try that next time! :)

Lol you're suppose to shave in the direction where your hair grows. No wonder it itches and irritates.

Lol, well then that helps. So from the top of the crotch, down towards the shaft? I feel like an idiot now lol.

basically firstly make sure you trim it a bit first (makes the process a whole lot easier), do it in the bath , press firmly and GO WITH THE DIRECTION OF THE HAIR !

It's really simple, you just started out badly by shaving against the grain before doing anything else.
First you should trim the hair as short as possible with scissors or a hair trimmer/electric razor. Then apply some shaving cream or use water and shave in the direction your hair naturally grows. For some people this is short enough and they leave it at that, however, if you want a totally smooth shave you can go against the grain (in the opposite direction that your hair grows) and get much closer to the skin. Doing this can cause ingrown hairs and is more likely to give you razor burn so it's more 'risky' in that regard.
