Does anyone know how to deal with anger in a much calmer and collected manner? In the past year I've had serious issues with anger to the point where my own parents have called me out on it and people are literally afraid of me at school because I'm usually known as the hothead. Can anyone else relate?

If possible remove yourself from the situation and try to avoid people that make you angry. As said above yoga can help and I find that meditation helps.

I try breathing exercises - it helps and also I have a lucky charm - an old key I just hold it in my hand and try and imagine it unlocks peace

I once heard of the '7-11' method - breathe in through your mouth for 7 seconds, breathe out through your nose for 11. It works!

I had this problem in high school, punching walls, slapping my friends for next to no reason, it was awful. I'm not even sure how I moved past this, but like everyone has said breathing exercises do help, I just used to go for some air if I felt angry and just breathed in and out concentrating on breathing in through my nose and out through my mouth. I nearly lost all my friends but I turned myself back around for the most part, I'm still quite an angry person and despite my size I can throw some pretty hard hits. For me it was just realising it was find a way to cope, to change, or lose everything.
Seeing a doctor and getting anger therapy could help you if you're really concerned but it's mainly a case of taking a step back from whatever is making you angry and try to look at it differently, try to find a solution that doesn't involve getting uncontrollably angry :hug3:

I used to have the same problem. Im very anti social because i think most people in general are dumb and ignorant these days, and it makes me mad. Ive never really lost it completely. Try chopping wood for fire wood and selling it. You get rid of anger through exercise and make some money at the same time.

Dude, I used to have the same thing, people used to be afraid of me and I used to loose my temper and just explode. I would choke, kick, and insult people. Growing up was part of what made me stop, realizing that all things have solutions if you just stop for a moment and think. You should be like a rock towards the outside and harmonious in your inside, sometimes you should just be indifferent towards many situations, because if you can control your feelings you can control everything.

I can relate. You should see em when I get a 2 for math :(
Sadly I don't have any advice for you as my own temper is bad enough. Sorry.

I'm like that. I can seriously hit things lol. I'm actually a lot stronger when I'm mad. No idea why but its like super motivation. I get things done when I'm mad. I exercise. Its a great time for me to work on flips and kips and things in gymnastics or karate sense I'm super motivated and full of energy. I can use my power to its full extent. I get the best workouts and practice when I'm mad as I'm also fearless when I'm mad so I don't chicken out on new tricks.
That has honestly been the beat thing for me and keeping it up with everyday exercise, brutal exercise like pushing myself to the point of colaps. That helps me. I have to feel physical pain, I guess as if I were fighting what ever made me mad. Once I have no energy left I feel better. This is also where my cutting started, I get mad then need to punish myself for whatever I did wrong to deserve what made me mad. Yeah its weird, I'm really weird
Breathing and meditation don't work for me, some weird reason it makes me even more angry. I have to act, I can't stop like most people. If I can't act I just stay PO until I do. Sense its very intense for me I avoid situations that tick me off, like catty girls and stupid people. So my thing is first to avoid what might make me snap and second to do something to my self, I take it out on my self through intense exercise.
