By the title I mean what is a fighting game that a beginner can pick up and not get immediately raped both on and offline. I was told SoulCalibur V was a little friendly, however that is just pure lies since Nightmare is the most overpowered character ever, so does anyone know a friendly fighting game?

The Quake series :P
Nah, if you want a good story with it, then try the Ratchet & Clank series(PS2 and PS3). Going Commando*, Up Your Arsenal, and Tools of Destruction have arena combat. Up Your Arsenal and (I think) Tools of Destruction have online play. Deadlocked is pretty much only fighting, so you might like that(but play the original three first, as they explain the story and are lots of fun!).
Online people are pretty good, though.
* Known as Locked & Loaded in PAL regions.

Tekken? Are you even reading what you post. I myself know Tekken is brutal for beginners, especially the latest entry in the series.

Well maybe if you got better at it, then you wouldn't be a beginner ...

It is easier said than done. Getting better at it would take months and countless hours in practice mode, especially in Tag Tournament 2, it is definitely not a friendly game.

Well then what's the point of playing the game? Why would you want to play an easy game?

Not an easy game, just a game where you can find a great amount of depth with the minimum complexity.

I'm not sure that even exists. Games are meant to take time.

Tekken is good for beginners who want to get better by being presented with a moderate challenge.
Or Mortal Combat
