Hello, I am sad to admit that I am not that tech savvy when it comes to malware and such. I really wouldn't like to ask my brother because he would most likely just make fun of me for it because thats how he is. Anyway, what I have to ask is sort of complicateD? I was on tf2outpost when someone sent a link to their "real account" I don't know what it was today, I fell for it. I reread the link a couple times only to realise it had an extra letter after I clicked it. I don't think it fully loaded, a page came up warning me about it and I just clicked the get me out of here button. What I wanted to know was do you think they got my account information? I changed my steam password, deleted today's history, and cleared the cache on Firefox's Nightly. I am having avast! run a quick scan right now, after I will run a full system scan. I really don't want to lose my steam account because I have close to 40 games. This was the second time someone sent me a phishing link, the first one I was just smart enought to not click it but the second one I'm not sure why I did. Should I be worried about getting a virus? Or losing all my other accounts such as reddit, facebook, email, etc. ? Or do you think I am safe? I was logged into tf2outpost when I clicked the link, never logged into the phishing link or anything. Like I said, it loaded then the thing popped up like a second later and I clicked get me out of here button.

Sorry if this is really dumb, my friend is the one who is more tech savvy when it comes to this kind of stuff. I just know how to install games and stuff, nothing with malware/programming yet.

If you clicked 'get me out of here' before the webpage had loaded I don't think they got your information. Typically for a phishing software to work you need to go through the 'collection' step, which is where your information is taken. To do this you need to enter your account information into the link that would have been opened. (At least that's the only method I know of)

So I doubt any of your information was taken. If I were in your situation I would drop a message to steam support just making them aware of what happened, in case your account ends up being compromised. But from what you've said here it seems like you're safe.

If your anti virus software alerted you, and you took heed and left the page then you should be safe. Although it's unlikely your account will be compromised, you should change your passwords.

I can't really remember which loaded first, the antivrus warning me or the page. However as soon as I saw the warning I got out of there. I changed my steam password a few minutes after because I just went into panic mode. This happened maybe 30-45 mins ago just got calmed down becasue I was freaking out. Only time I've been hacked before was in WoW but I wasn't that worried because I was only like lvl 50 and had nothing. If I was ever not able to access my steam because of it getting hacked I don't know what I would do. I have spent a lot of money on that and invested a lot of time that I would just be really upset. So because I hit the get me out of here button you think I'm safe?

If you got the phishing warning, then you should be safe. If it turns out your account was indeed compromised(and you didn't visit the site anyway), then immediately alert the makers of your browser, as that is a serious security hole.

You'll get these more often. I got a Twitter phishing scam last week.
Here's how to check for sure if you can't tell: enter fake information. That's right. Put random characters into both username and password fields. If it tells you it was correct, you've got a phishing scam. Tell whoever runs the legitimate site about it, so they can put up an announcement or whatever.
