Does scratching yourself to the point of bleeding count as self-harm? When I'm angry with myself, I scratch my skin. I would like to stop that but I am curious.

yes. anything which you do to harm yourselff on purpose is classified as self harm whether its just biting scratching or pulling your hair it doesnt have to be cutting or burning... these are just the most common forms

Yes, that is self harm.
I did that 2 times in my life and I scratched my hand so hard that I had to tell my mom I fell and then she cleared it because it was so severe. I still have a huge mark on my hand though it is fading away.

What did you mean by: I am curious ?

It is, anything that hurts yourself mentally or verbally is considered self-harm.

I mean I'm curious as to what counts as self-harm. When people talk about self-harm, they talk about cutting and burning. They never speak about other things that fall under the self-harm category.

I would imagine that that would be considered self harm.

that is 100% self harm,
what I recommend is you taking your anger out on a punch bag or doing heavy weights, if you dont have these get down and do press ups, the point of this isn't to build muscle its to detract you and keep your arms busy! I really hope this helps, I see your too young a member to pm me so just give me a visitor message or send me a e-mail if you want to talk more:)

Yes. That's about how I started out, and then it progressed.

Yes I scratch but it's progressing to cutting and verbal abuse to hype myself up.... Which is weird :/

It can be self harm. Last summer I itched solidly for 3 weeks in one spot without realising I was doing it. I had just cut every night for 2 weeks and it was the first time I have ever cut. One of my friends realised I was scratching pulled up my jumper sleeve (which I was wearing despite the heat to cover my scars) because there was a lot of blood that had seeped from the scratches through my jumper and my arm was covered in it. So I think what I did was self harm just that it wasn't that I did it consciously.
