Day zero is almost up. It's actually been pretty dang hard for me. I don't cut every day, but today I just keep feeling the urge... Is this normal? Is it because I know I'm trying to quit? Advice please? X:

It is normal for a cutter to have an urge to cut again. Instead of cutting try finding a rubber band instead and snap it on your wrist to see if you can relieve that feeling. Or you can try to ignore it by keeping your mind off of it. Such as watching videos or doing something entertaining. If you can try to confide in a friend.

Yeah, it is normal to have an urge. What helps me is going out with friends, or just calling a friend over thephone. They don't need to know what's going on but just talking about other things will keep your mind of cutting.
Watching a movie can help too. Take some comedy and try to forget about cutting.
Keep going and good luck.

Also, there is something called the butterfly project. When ever you have the urge to cut, you take a sharpie or a marker and draw a butterfly on yourself, with the name of someone you care inside it. if you cut or rub it off, that butterfly dies. It has to fade naturally.

It's ok to have relapses most people do! Depression isn't generally something you get fully over the course of a day, it usually takes a while to affect you, so don't expect the road to recovery to take a short time either. :) and yeah the other replies all have good help so I hope those methods help you. And I've heard people like to bury or get rid of their razors and stuff all at once because it gives them a sense of finality, but if you're trying to stop for good it's a very positive sign indeed. :)

I have come close to cutting for the first time before, but in this past week, it has been more than ever.

Be careful...:/ once you start, you won't be able to stop without some help... It's not just LIKE an addiction, it IS an addiction.. And a tough one to break, too, for that matter. You may come to rely on it as your only stress reliever. And that is not good.
Be careful please > <

Sadly i know. i haven't experienced it, but I know from being here for while. Why do you think i always post there whenever i get close to or feel like cutting. I try to keep my mind off these things. but the dark thoughts come back.

This is true.
I suggest things like... A stress ball. It helps with me sometimes. Or the 4 P's. Pissed People Punch Pillows.
There's also journals you can keep, art you can draw, music you can listen to, do things that normally make you happy! ^^
Talking helps too. To a close friend, family member, councillor, or hell, a random person on here! X)
If you wanna talk, you can always talk to me :)

I understand. I get the urge to cut almost every day, but I've managed to stay clean for 81 days. I think it's normal; a big part of overcoming self harm is learning to overcome the urge. :D
