I'm making this thread for all of us. If you love music and happen to be going through some troubling times, drop a tune. People can come and check them out. Listen, learn, heal. Music is medicine for the soul. Hope this takes and hope it helps.
I'll start. I've been obsessed with the song below for the past two days. I needed to take a breather yesterday and just walked outside without telling anyone. I felt like exploding, and for what? I don't even know...I just felt numb and lost and couldn't stop crying. I imagined what others must have been doing at the time and felt like cutting deep. I wanted to die. Then I found it. And it lifted my spirits a little and I felt really good in my depressive mood, but it was weird because I was content at the same time. I don't know. The sun was setting and I hugged myself, listening in a ball. Enjoy and keep breathing. <3
Suggested song: Ingrid Michaelson- Keep Breathing

Depends what I'm sad about. Here's my general list, though:
Hollow Talk - Choir of Young Believers (let it get into about 2/3 through before you judge it. It gets so much better)
Life in Technicolour Part ii - Coldplay
Kiss Me - Ed Sheeran
Young Blood - The Young and Famous
Who You Are - Jessie J
Your Song - Ellie Goulding (Yes, I know it's an Elton classic, but if we're talking about songs for sad situations, I feel like Ellie's version just sounds more sympathetic with that emotion)
Dream On - Aerosmith
Skinny Love - Bon Iver

Away from the Sun/Here Without You - Three Doors Down
Tonight - FM Static
The Scientist - Coldplay
This - Ed Sheeran
Who We Are - Lifehouse
Every Breath You Take - James Arthur
Just some songs I listen to when I feel down. :)

Ok, that was actually really pretty... I always forget how raw and open Ed is. I think + was one of the only albums I've ever heard where I preferred the album tracks to the singles.

Same. While I love his singles, the other songs on the album are perfection, like Autumn Leaves, Gold Rush, U.N.I, and This.

It's the sort of music you just listen to... like, you don't think about it... it just makes it all better... Coldplay does that for me as well..

Never heard of 3 Doors Down or Life House, but I used to hate the script until #3 came out... now I love them :D But Coldplay just is magic for me... it's like it just heals all my worries. I don't know how some people hate them so much. For some reason it's cool to hate Coldplay.
