The best advice I can give: Don't think about it.
Yes, it does sound terribly vague and general, but think about it for a bit. Whenever you get the desire to look at porn or masturbate or whatever, think about something else. Turn on the TV and watch a (non-sexual) show, read a book, listen to a song. Anything to distract you!
Don't get bent out of shape about it, either. At the end of the day, that desire and temptation are nothing short of natural.
Best of luck to you! =)

Im a theist, and I have your problem. I still do it. However, if you are getting tempted to watch porn on your computer, Id shut it down and masturbate, so when you have finished, you are not gonna be in the mood to watch it!

thats actually a really good idea also what you could do is if you dont even want to masturbate, go through and watch tv or read a book to take your mind off it/

Well for the first resist the temptation for looking at porn.
For the second pray to God for guidence and He will lead you out.
for the third I would condider talking to a preist about it. Just make sure you don't say jack off but something else.

Ultimately, and this is what you are going to have to accept, hormones will get the better of you, and you will have an overwhelming desire to masturbate.
Remember that its completely natural to have these urges, and to say no to them will simply intensify them. By masturbating, you are almost relieving the desire. What your main problem will be is how you masturbate...i.e. with or without porn. If on the internet you get tempted, shut down the computer and knock one out asap, as by the time youve finished, you wont be in the mood to watch porn.
Personally, I wouldnt see a priest, or speak to a very religious person, as they will have their own views on it, and might give the wrong sort of response. They might not take your thoughts and feelings into consideration, and a priest is not the first person on the planet that I would have a chat with about masturbation, especially as they arent supposed to know anything about it (presuming they are Catholic etc...). You also know that you might not get good advice from people who traditionally saw the practice as evil. Im not saying that there arent people established in religion who can give you really good advice, and Im trying hard not to stereotype, but I wouldnt go and speak to someone connected to the church.
What I would do, however, is speak to a councillor in school, as they can give you practical advice, and will also help you talk about your thoughts and feelings and worries about masturbating whilst watching porn. If you are embarrassed, dont worry! They will have seen it all before many times, and are there to help and listen to you. Plus it should be confidential, so your parents wont find out, if thats another worry.
Remember that it is normal at your age to explore new things, and pornography is going to be one of them. It will come as no suprise to some that there are literally millions of sites dedicated to this. Morally, I think, millions, if not billions of people would actually not care about you watching pornography on the internet.
As Ive said in a previous post, as a Christian, my hormones and my conscience often tell me different things, and sometimes you have to follow one or the other. Stopping masturbation is not something that I would reccommend as an extremist method. I would also suggest thinking about doing it in different places, such as the bathroom etc...
Perhaps your friends can also help you? This might be a route you could go down, but you obviously know your friends better than me, so choose wisely, or dont choose to tell them.
Hope this has been of some use!!!

There are 2 things about this that are striking to me. First, I'm not sure what your religion has to do with this. The vast, overwhelming number of people here are Christian and share your basic beliefs and values, and have come to terms with this issue. I'm therefore not sure why you believe religion differentiates you.
Second is that the answer to the evident question you're asking is pretty obvious. If you find porn 'wrong' don't look at it. Show some will power, some self control and self discipline.
However,
I get the sense that the issue isn't so much either of the above issues, but rather a discomfort with your own urges? Maybe that's the issue?
It's easy to confuse the issue of one's sexual urges (which are biological and not under our control), with their expression (which are, like viewing porn). One might be unacceptable to you, but don't confuse that with a basic acceptance of those urges and feelings and 'stuff' that means being a guy, sexually.
It's OK to choose to not look at porn, just stay away from it. But, don't confuse your disgust with the porn with a disgust with that part of yourself that finds it arousing. At some point, you'll want that part to work properly.

sam, i know what its like. i'm a christian and have been told about how bad these sexual acts are by people in my church and that God is against these types of sexual acts. now, i have just gotten over it. i'm a practising christian and i masturbate, i don't really care. but some people take their faith much more seriously and follow the directions given by ministers of the church more seriously. so i can see where this has a big impact on him.

As always, thanks for the clarification, Stephen. But, are the teachings against masturbation, or porn, or basic male sexuality?
What I'm saying is that choosing not to look at porn is one thing, denying who you are (and sexuality is a big part of that) isn't really feasible, regardless of religious convictions. Sexuality (and by extension, masturbation) is a biological imperative, like eye blinks or sweating.
I think it's easier to help guys seperate the reasonable from the not so reasonable. That way, they can control what they believe needs to be controlled, without creating problems for themselves later on.

well i'm not going to debate it here, because debating in p101 is a personal hate of mine, so this is the last thing i'll say on this matter.
i actually agree in general by what your saying. all my point is, is that porn and masturbation is against the teachings of most christian churches and that i can understand and appreciate why this guy thinks the way he does. masturbation is a normal part of life for me, porn isn't, thats a personal choice based on my beliefs. so if this guy wants to give up porn, then i'm all out to support him.

i agree with trigger on this one, i was in the same place u r now. but heres a good way to deal wit it. if you feely dirty or bad from watching pornogaraphy, read erotics. you can find them on websites linked on Jackinworld, they give you that lil' kik that porno does. However, no one actualy has sex, and u du not indulge on anypne elses body, you simply imagine as you read. This is wot i do. Think of it as the "Porn Patch". Thats copyrighted by the way folks lol =D =D =D

It's great that you want to stop looking at porn. It's hard but possible, I've talked with people at church about it and they say that it's a habit that can be stopped.
The best way to stop it is to find one or two people that you can become accountable to. That means every week getting them to ask you if you've looked at porn, and being truthful to them. These people shouldn't judge you but help you overcome the situation.
thats a really great idea if your comfortable talking to other people about porn and related issues. its really good to have people supporting you all the time when you are trying to give something up.

many people have said the smart thing as far as the porn part goes, but if you really wanna make yourself unable to get to porn at all, find a free parental control thing online and download it, and set it to block porn on your computer, then you dont have to worry about getting to it.
if you feel that you are doing the wrong thing because of your religion, then just throw away those feelings, because it is all completely natural, if your a strong believer of god then think of it this way, if masturbation is wrong, then why did he come up with orgasms whenever humans were created (just a viewpoint, because I'm atheist, but thats a way to look at it.) and if you feel uncomfortable about it and want to talk about it with someone a councelor would be good as somebody before suggested, but i believe a school health teacher would be the best person to share this with, because they teach this stuff, and should have any answers that you need.

No where in the Bible does it say "Thou shall not masturbate." There is a website: www.xxxchurch in which you can download accountability software that monitors where you go on the internet. It is described as follows:
X3watch is an accountability software program helping with online integrity. Whenever you browse the Internet and access a site, which may contain questionable material, the program will save the site name on your computer in a hidden folder. A person of your choice (an accountability partner) will receive an email containing all possible questionable sites you may have visited within the month. This information is meant to encourage open and honest conversation between friends and help us all be more accountable.

Alternatively, you could look at the logistics of believing in a book which preaches racism, homophobia, and abstinence against healthy sexual urges.
Homosexual acts are an abomination to God. Leviticus 18:12 "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination."
"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."
Childbirth is evil:
12:6 And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or dove,
for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest: (12:6-8) After a woman gives birth, a priest must kill a lamb, pigeon, or dove as a sin offering. This is because having children is sinful and God likes it when things are killed for him.
Is childbearing sinful?
12:7 Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female.
12:8 And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.
If a man rapes a whore, she should be put to death, but not he.
And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free. (19:20-22) If a man has sex with an engaged slave woman, scourge the woman, but don't punish the man. (Even if he raped her?)
Is slavery OK?
19:21 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, even a ram for a trespass offering.
19:22 And the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering before the LORD for his sin which he hath done: and the sin which he hath done shall be forgiven him.

i don't think the word pornography is in the bible, but i do believe christianity is against the exploiting of people like that.

Is it bad exploitation if they're agreeing to it knowing what it's being used for? Sure, it's exploitation, but the people involved knew it when they agreed to it. Unless it's rape it's not negative for either party.

I have experienced what you are going through. However the thing that made me stop was being caught. The best alternative to that would be to put on parental controls on your computer WITH A PASSWORD!
When it comes to the masturbation, i still do it, just not as much. I make myself not to. I try to find when i do it (I.e. the shower) i avoid it. If you do it in the shower, put on a radio and sing (yes thats what i do and t helps) If you do it when you are going to bed, again listen to music. its what i do and i get to where i cant stay awake any longer and i just fall asleep without J/O.
PM me if you have any other q's!

There is no problem with porn or masterbation.
I'm not a christian and I could go ranting about Christianity and stuff like that.
You are going through puberty, your hormones are going crazy. Its completely natural to want to look at a member of the oppisite sex. Its natural to want to masterbate.
Basically, if it feels good and if it feels right. Do it.

Hey Man, I'm a christian too and I have been having the same problem. I have just today passed two weeks without porn. I am doing well, I went to a thing called Jesus Culture and had a real revelation. If you need any help you can txt or email me. 5104153637 and
[email protected] Also, if you have a friend you can trust to hold you accountable you can use the software at this link (http://x3watch.com/x3watch.html) and it will send them a report of any suspicious sites you went to and they can help you through it. Also, xxxchurch.com has some really good links. The only way to get over it is with the Lord. I will be praying for you. Oh, and if you want a good book about purity look for Sexual Revolution by Kris Vallotton.

Excuse me but isn't any1 stricken with the fact that this is ridiculusly puritanic ? You watch porn , so fuking what. Do you think that this is the kind of lust that the testaments forbid ? No . It is only the close-minded priests that drive the masses to believe things have only one side. If you want to call yourself a christian fill your heart with compassion and understanding for the pains of the world. That is the only virtue christ taught in earth.
In your perspecting, wanking is a sin with or without porn. You deliver yourself to lusty thoughts in order to cum , so is there really a difference between watching a sex sceen and imagining it ? The only difference is that in your imagination you will be the one participating in the act .
As you can see looking at it from your perspecting masturbation is a sin in and of itself. A perfectly natural act is banned.
I am harsh in my words that is true but for a very good reason. Personnaly i am currently an aetheist, but i started out as an orthodox. What i hate about religions is that they try to manipulate you by enforcing wrong ideas. and that is exactly the case here. You are young and you probably want to jack it till it becomes purple :P Is that a sin ? NO. Do you want to know what would be a sin ? To get a girl in your house and force her to have sex with you. That would be a deadly sin to my point of view.
