Britain has to be prepared to “go to war” if it wishes to restrain the Syrian regime by implementing no-fly zones and arming the rebels, the outgoing head of the armed forces warns today.

“You have to establish a ground control zone. You have to take out their air defences. You also have to make sure they can’t manoeuvre – which means you have to take out their tanks, and their armoured personnel carriers and all the other things that are actually doing the damage.


Who do you support in this conflict? Assad, or the U.S. funded rebels with links to the al-queda? This is pretty much a proxy war between russia and the US right now, the US is losing, and it might turn into an actual war.

I agree with what Walter said. We have nothing to gain by going to war against the Syrian regime, but we have a lot to lose - starting with our relationship with Russia.

We're there, even though the government hasn't admitted it. There have to be numerous CIA cells acting in and around Syria, supporting the FSA. So, right now it's a cloak and dagger war, as far as we're concerned. Hopefully it'll stay that way.

Bottom line: We shouldn't get involved. Not in Syria, not anywhere. Unless it threatens us directly, we need to keep our noses out of the conflict. We need to stop acting like the world's policemen already.
