What nation do you think is best at sports, but lets make it even for all the little countries. What nation do you think is best at sport per capita? ;)

Ok boys and girls you are finding it hard to understand where I am coming from, so lets simplify it for you. And only base it off one sporting event, the summer Olympics.

One does not simply quantify skill at sports 'per capita'.

Well actually, yes it can be done. But I am asking what nation you think is best at sport per capita, it's obviously not America... Infact America is ranked around 50th in the world on most records

What do you mean by "sports"? Do you count things like archery, synchronized swimming, and chess?

I'd probably have to go with Jamaica because they rule track and field.

It's incredibly stupid, vague, and even worse than the intelligence quota.

Well, America has received by far more Olympic medals then any other nation. Not to mention the fact that lots of Olympic medalists representing other nations went to college and trained here in the US.

Wouldn't count chess, otherwise we may aswell count all board games, sports are sports, from running too football too fencing, all sports.

In your opinion what is the best, and it's easy to back yourself up with some facts.

Hmm per capita the USA team came 49th...

Joy,another patriotic wank thread.

No nation is the best at sports, I mean America suck at cricket, Rugby and football so then by that theory are they the worse?

Every country plays different sports to different levels

I don't think anyone in America plays cricket (other than a handful of people). Rugby is getting bigger and soccer is staying the same. But I agree, it's hard to expect a third world country to perform at the same level as first world countries with top-of-the-line training equipment and dietitians.

Also, ranking the "best" country at sports based on population is completely stupid and irrelevant.

I kind of understand what you are asking, just not sure you are asking it the right way. This isn't really much of a debate, when you seem to have a "per capita" list in front of you somewhere.

In your opinion what is the best, and it's easy to back yourself up with some facts.

Touche. You haven't really brought much to this thread yourself.

Unless this turns into an actual debate, with an actual point - I will be locking it pretty soon.

You're joking, right? It's the quantification of an undefined, variable, and consistently vague non-numerical value that fluctuates depending on every single application, circumstance, or viewpoint. There is no good way to quantify athleticism.

Even though the question is too debatable to come up with one concrete answer. I personally think Brasil brings a lot of good athletes to a lot of sports.

I would have to say the United States, especially when talking about Per Capita. We have more teams in elementary, middle, and high schools. Not to mention the college and pro teams in some cities.

Mars and the Moon are the best. The Moon outruns every nation during the Summer Olympics. Jokes aside, this is another stupid thread to demonstrate superiority of another nation. This is nationalism, not patriotism. Patriotism is admirring your country without oppressing the others, nationalism is the same, but it does oppress other countries.

Serbia no daubt about it.

We got only 3 medals last year. We can't even play football right. On the last World Cup, we lost from Cameroon (not 100%sure) and Ghana, beaten Germany, and lost to the Aussies. All of those teams we lost from were weaker then Germany.
