On my PC, for whatever reason, the left speaker occasionally goes silent and then comes back a long while later. I use a Dell AX510PA soundbar, if that helps. I know that the monitor and speakers are a bit old but could there be another cause?

Could be a dodgy cable. I had something like this when the jack wasn't in correctly or in a funny position. Try jiggling it a bit.
