I think this movie is one of the greatest out there. It really shows that hard work and determination can propel you to be very successful in life no matter where you are.
Eminem (Marshall Mathers) grew up in the shit stain that is underdeveloped Detroit, Michigan. He was raised by his single mom who couldn't keep a job, so she moved him to various shitty homes. They moved around 4 times a year. Mathers was constantly bullied at school and his mom was abusive. He dropped out of school when he was 14 or 15 in 9th grade. As time passed he got into rap battling, and made his way to the very top of the American and even world music charts. I'd say that the only superbad (another movie reference) ;) obstacle Mathers faced was drug addiction, which he has overcome.
I guess all I'm saying is that even if you're not into hip-hop, 8 Mile is still a great movie because of it's lesson. Check it out.
