This is gonna end up in ROTW
You're born that way. It's like your eye color, it's just a part of who you are. It really shouldn't be as big of a deal as it is.

Agree completely. To clarify a bit more, you're born with your sexuality, as in who you're attracted to. The kind of relationships you actually pursue though are your choice.

i think your born that way but circumstance can alter whether you act on your sexuality or not

I think sexuality is assigned at birth. For example, a straight person doesn't chose to love the opposite gender, likewise, LGBT don't chose to be LGBT.

This has been discussed before on the forums, my opinion is still the same, you are born with your sexual tendency, it is not acquired, is part of your being.

I'm not sure, part of me says your born with it but the other part says that circumstances and life experiences could change it.
I had a friend who was straight, dated girls etc. but then he was sexually assaulted by a member of his family and for some reason after that he identified with the gay community more.

It's like any other part of your personality. You are born with a given set of traits, but environmental factors determine which of these traits are manifested at any given time. I'm guessing this is why so many people seem to "change" sexualities: different parts of one's personality being prominent at different times.

well if you think about it, you don't even begin to get sexual thoughts until you start puberty, so i'd say that it's something that develops as you grow up

If it were possible, i think it would be from trauma like this at a young age and not at all worth it.

That doesn't prove anything. People are born with the genetics for many things that don't show up until later.

I think it's like race, gender, hair color, etc. etc. You are born gay or bi or straight. There is nothing wrong with it.

That's kind of how I think, too.
I mean, I know I was born straight, and I know that my friend Tristen was born gay. But then there are people like my best friend who has always been straight, I mean, 100%. Then one night, she met a girl named Bee, and she just fell in love.

Exactly, it makes me believe it can be both. You may have predefined genes to be a certain sexuality but it doesn't limit you from identifying with another.

I think there may be some genetics involved but I also think that your sexuality could be a result of your early years, definitely not a choice though.

Something tells me it's developmental, sexuality is anything but black and white.

in my mind, you cant be born with a mentality preprogrammed into you. yes, genetics dictate your entire existance - but they dont determine they way you think. sexual attraction is not a conscious thought, but all the same it's still a thought. and thoughts develop the older you get.
when we were kids, girls were weird, disgusting and horrible things, but the older you get, the more interested in them you become. so you cant say you're born into you're sexual orientation, when sexual attraction itself develops as you get older.

I knew i was diff from other guys (and they knew also) as early as kidnergarten. I never became interested in girls. It's not a mentality in the way you're talking about but attraction and mannerisms deeply rooted in whatever part of the brain. The attraction part just gets triggered later, in puberty.
