An unmanned US jet has landed aboard an aircraft carrier for the first time.

"Salty Dog502", the US Navy's X-47B drone, landed on the USS George H W Bush off the coast of Virginia, its first landing on a ship.

The bat-wing aircraft has a 3,200km (2,000 mile) range and the ability to carry the equivalent of two precision-guided bombs.

The drone was first launched from the aircraft carrier in May but returned to a mainland runway.

Awesome!!! Long live America!

Drones are amazing, and aircraft carriers are amazing, and when you combine the two, it's, well, amazing.

I actually was on a carrier for 3 days. It was USS Roosevelt. My uncle was the captain at the time. He's Frank Pandlolfe.

They should be spending their money on paying debts and stabilizing their doomed economy instead of speeding up their fall by buying items of war and being all "patriotic".

This is really interesting and is showing how much technology has progressed even though it does creep me out slightly how much damage of this new military weapons can do.

Drones are good for saving pilot's lives, but nothing is ever going to replace a pilot's instinct and quick thinking. Im totally for drones though
