HAHA, SUCKERS. I drew you in with this typical "Puberty for Boys" thread title, didn't I? Let me explain ...

This section gets the same questions asked on a daily basis, and us regular members are kind of tired of saying the same thing over and over again. Let me start by pulling some quotes from the first Announcement from this section.

"If you want to post a question, post your own thread unless your answer can be found in a stuck thread or announcement."

"Also, before you post, have a look in here – you might find your answer without having to post a new thread!!"

LEARN THESE LIKE THE BACK OF YOUR HAND! For god's sake, you can find the answer to most of your questions in less then 5 seconds of searching this sub-forum. It literally takes less effort than posting a new thread.

Yes, you're right. Some of these questions can easily be answered by looking even a few threads away from the one someone posted.
That does not, however, make any person's thread (assuming it's appropriate) any more or less valid or permitted than any other one. People can, have, and will ask the same question multiple times.

Why, you may ask? And also, why don't we close the duplicates?

VirtualTeen is a help and advice site as I'm sure you've gathered. Because of this, members should feel comfortable asking any question they have, no matter how many other times it's been asked. Sure the "you're normal" response is fairly generic. However, it can give someone much needed closure if they receive a reply to their thread about their situation about how they are developing or feeling. This is closure they can't get just by reading similar threads. Sure, it may answer the question, but it won't lessen the personal concern of whether or not they are normal themselves, not whether or not whatever they're "condition" may be is normal.

I'll leave you with the following from when I made a very similar post to your own a long while back (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=116264) :P

This is a community. If you have a problem or question in your own group of friends and you say it to them, what happens?

Does one person give their opinion and no one else says anything. Or does everyone say something even if its the same thing they are really saying? With my friends its the later.

More people really sets in stone something and can make someone feel better. VT is a community, it's about many people interacting and letting who ever wants to give an opinion give one. Who knows someone might say something different and a debate might start.

If the OP is given the chance to request their thread be locked then that won't promote the above.

Also on these types of forums when you have members with post counts in the high thousands for someone with a few posts it can be intimidating for them to contribute sometimes, but sometimes adding to a thread even though essentially saying the same thing can help them post more and further develop as I mentioned first, this community.

Feel free to PM me if you'd like to continue this :locked2:
