How do I tell an old friend I cut and how would they react?

I meet up with old friends and I don't know how to tell them, I mean I can tell the friends I have at the moment because they're around all the time but I don't want to tell someone who knew me before "it" without knowing how they would react.

Depends how close you are to them to fully understand how they will react. For me I was super close to my friend and I was blunt and I said hey man I'm struggling with my situation at home and my friends death and so I cut myself because of it. Then he was cool about it he did ask a lot of questions tho so be prepared for that.

The friends I have at the moment know about my scars because I don't care what they say, if they can't accept me the way I am, they're not my friends. But it wasn't easy to tell old friends so I understand that you're afraid because of it. Friends who know you before the self harm will be more surprised and maybe shocked when they find out, but in my case they did understand it a lot better, it hasn't been a big deal at all after I told them. So, just tell them, they're your friends, they will understand!

When I told my friends, I actually didn't. They saw cuts and like most people, freaked out. One of my friends even thought I was joking. She said "that's not funny". What I would do is tell one person that's really close. You can say hint towards it if they're aware of self harm, or just tell them bluntly and hope for the best. With that one friend, you can then tell other people.

Personally, I would tell my best friend, but she cares too much about me that it would just destroy her.
