Which transmission do you prefer a standard or automatic. I personally won't drive a automatic because even the brand new ones constantly run a gear to long and dont down shift right and I just think standards are easier and a whole lot easier to rebuild or replace.

I would go for manual personally. More control over gears.

I like both equally for different reasons, but I currently have a manual.

I prefer to drive automatic, since I have no idea how to drive manual yet. Ought to be interesting since my car is manual.

Depends on the vehicle I'm driving and the distance. If I was given a manual car I wouldn't complain, but if I was going far out of town (around 2 1/2+ hours driving time one way), I'd prefer an automatic.

Since I haven't learned how to drive manual yet, automatic.

My truck is a stick and I prefer it by far. You have much more control over the vehicle and when you need more power. You can also use lower gears to slow you down on hills so you dont burn your brakes up

I tried driving manual... and I'm not doing it again. I probably damn near killed that car. So, I guess I'm sticking with auto.

Manuals are nice, but during traffic or long drives, automatics are nicer.

I learned how to drive a car using manual but my first car was an automatic because my dad wanted to be Able to drive it and he has forgotten how to drive manual. I would prefer a manual.

See this question is hard. I love manuals but it depends what I'm driving. Like my uncles car. He taught me manual in that and it shifts like a dream. But if I get in a Hershey truck to move it they suck. They're hard as hell to shift and always grind gears and shit. Like our 1 truck. 2104 it sucks so much we fucked up nearly every gear but 5th

Automatic, if you never drove a manual car you can really mess it up, also your stoping has to be perfect or you will stall out.

Manual. Both of my parents' cars are standards so that's what I'm gonna learn on. I'm gonna end up with my dad's Yaris and it's awesome cuz it's so light. It feels like a go-cart. So much fun to ride in. I would never drive an automatic unless I had no choice.

Right now I'd go for a manual for the sake of fun, but people say that once you try a top-of-the-range auto like the DSG from VW or TipTronic from Audi you won't go back to a manual. I'd still like to test it myself.

I prefer a hand shaker over an auto. Especially in trucks. If your towing, it's better because you can decide whether it will shift or stay. If you've ever pulled a big trailer up a hill, you know what I'm talking about. I also like that it lets you decide how much RPM you want between shifts. I've driven both many times and will do either, but an auto is nice if you do much stop and go driving. For what I do, a manual is better.

All you really have to do when you stop is just push the clutch in and back down to 1st. Its not that hard once you get the hang of it

I know how to drive automatic only, but when I learn to drive manual I surely will prefer it, unless I live in a city with a lot of traffic (which I most likely will), then it could get a little tedious.

Manual. My mom taught me to drive in one, plus I love the sound when they takeoff. Ugh I'm gonna love driving my baby (:

Manual, cuz it's more fun and better fuel economy, unless I had to drive a hybrid, in which case I'll take a CVT auto (my dad teaches a shit-ton of things about this kind of stuff, such as CVT's being better with hybrids)

I can drive stick, but I hate it, my car is an automatic and I prefer that by far. I've never had problems with it and I enjoy just letting the car shift for me, it does have tiptronic, which is a worthless and should not be called "manual mode" at all lol. My dads bmw is an 8 speed auto and it is 1000x better than any stick I've ever used.

I'm not old enough to drive yet but I'd go with a manual. I'd like to learn how to do it sooner than later, plus it looks fun. Even my mom said it's fun to drive stick.

My family has an Audi with triptronic and its meh. Better than the average auto, still much rather have an outright stick. However that changes when hills are involved...triptronic is awesome then.

I'm not fussed each has it pro's and con's
Manuals are fun to drive on the highway but are a pain in the city.
Automatics a generally more practical for everyday driving but can be boring.
