So I regularly cut at the moment. I've been wearing long sleeves for the last month while I wait for the marks to disappear. I've taken to cutting over and over in the same spot to get a deep cut. Normally it's just a quick shallow cut that heals in a couple of weeks. I know I have to watch the cuts for signs of infection but if I keep cutting deeper then I increase my risk for infection so getting a first-aid kit together for dealing with not only the bleeding but for reducing the infection chance would be good.

Problem is I don't really know what goes into a first-aid kit or how to go about assembling one. Normally I'm a pretty healthy person. I used to play sport when I was younger and I would take some pretty crazy knocks and not once have I broken a bone, I don't bruise easily and I get over bugs very quickly if I even catch them at all.
So yeah. I'm studying at uni with a government assistance payment so buying stuff isn't a problem, but I think I should be more realistic about how I handle my situation.

Thanks,
NightingaleBlue

Thanks!!! I've been trying to stop but sometimes it feels like it's the only answer. I've been getting some help but it's not always easy!!!!!!!!!!

I'd say that if you do cut, do it somewhere else. I thought my shallow cuts would heal but they've been there for ages and show a dark line on my skin. You can't anticipate them fading, because some just won't.

I wash mine as son as I do them but I would put anti bacterial cream on the deeper ones just in case :)

You can buy first aid kits from outdoors shops, but as has been said, try and stop. See if you can find another, less damaging way to "release yourself"

I'd like to invest in a first aid kit as well. I haven't done it regularly in a while, but if I do, I want to make sure it's done safely. :)

My first aid kit has anti-bacterial cream, gauze, cotton balls, medical tape and band-aids. I think this has almost anything that you would need.
