in school? is it because it is impractical when practicing swimming? Does a girls stomach distract the boys in the class or something? It is funny because boys are allowed to wear their swim trunks and nothing else

Coming from a girl it's impractical having to race in a two piece is difficult and the top can fall off easily. Two pieces are more for tanning or just gently swimming in the pool. Also schools would think its inappropriate for cleavage to show and that it's too revealing. Boys don't have boobs so that's why they don't have tops when swimming.

What she said plus for actual swimming you want to generate the least resistance to movement, thus wearing as close to a full body suit as possible while keeping the freedom of movement, that is what swimming one piece are for. Two pieces and even sexy one piece will generate too much drag in the water.
