Should water be a umiversal right? Should drinking water be free for the usage of drinking and preparing meals? Should all humans have unabstructed acses to drinking water? Should our we sell our water resources and delivery sistem to international conpanies?

You can't make a limited resource a human right. More prosperous nations should aid area of their own and others who can't get proper drinking water, but it shouldn't be a human right.

firstly water is SOOOOO cheap! I think its a breach of human rights if someone doesn't allow you to drink it, for example if you went to prison and they didn't give you water but its fine to charge you for it

and quite abit of work to make drinking water

Remember, you're living in one of the most prosperous nations in history. Water is piss cheap to you. There families who might need an entire day's wage simply to get that "cheap" bottle of water you bought while at the store. Also, it's not a breach of human rights if that water is privatized and commercially sold or on land privately owned by an individual or group.

I'm sure it costs a lot of money to build under ground pipes, treatment facilities, pumps, whatever else is needed and maintain it all so clean drinking water goes straight to your home. A small fee for the service is not unreasonable.

in the ideal world the people in Africa would have free water, but its impossible and in our countries if you cant afford water or rent ect you get benefits or food stamps, and I didn't think it was a breach of human rights, only if someone is blocking you from accessing water, for example if in prison or hospital and they dont give it to you

"The ideal world" doesn't and will not exist. It's a pointless argument in ROTW. And no one will ever have free water, perfect world or not. You can not provide a limited resource for free. You can make it inexpensive relative to the community's situation, but you can not make it free. And no, not everyone gets those benefits. My family is beyond poor enough to receive a benefit such as EBT, yet we're denied. Shit happens.

Water cheap? Bottled water isn't that cheap!

People in Africa literally have tons of water. They are surrounded by it and have rivers. Why they live in the desert is beyond me. America has a desert and we put casinos in it. If not for the casinos, no one would live there because desert isn't a valuable commodity. For eons man has lived near water. Those Africans? They musta got lost because seriously, live near some water.

What is this EBT? Without it you can't buy water?

Did it ever occur to you that all the major sources of fresh water are occupied and owned by the government in Africa? The tribes and less fortunate areas get what they can, but it's seldom enough. And if it is, it's beyond polluted. I don't think you really quite grasp the fact that just because there is water, doesn't mean people can get it.

And quite frankly, there have been months where we couldn't pay our water bill. I don't know your financial situations, but yes, to some families without EBT you get no water. The government doesn't give a shit, nor do the private businesses that own the water.

well i don't know what EBT is but we have water, so maybe we have the EBT thing to get it. My parents don't complain about water or the water bill and I've seen the water bill and i thought it was pretty cheap compared to the other utilities like electricity, cable, gas and internet access.

Aren't you doing kinda okay financially because you have internet access and a computer? A lot of people don't have those and because you live in the south I really hope you have air conditioning!

i don't think the govt gives a shit about us either tbh, i know my dad thinks he pays a lot of taxes and he thinks the govt wastes a lot of it, so he's not a fan of them.

I still think those africans should go to the water. What do those tribal people do all day? I know we send them stuff and if the govt has the water, they should ask them for some.

Oh please tell me in the months you don't pay the water bill that they don't run right over and shut it off. Man that would be bad real quick. I hope they let your parents make a payment plan or something.

I'm gonna have to look into this EBT thing though. If you guys should be gettin' it and don't have water money because of it, that's just messed up.

If you don't know what EBT is then you're likely to rich to qualify for it. It's an assistance program used to buy food.

Why do I have a stable internet connection? My mom needs internet for work so we have no choice but to pay that bill. As for the others, we pick and choose often which we'll go without for a while.

And they can't just move. Are you stupid? Move where? A city where they can't afford to live? Come on, really.

And yes, they do shut it off ASAP. Payment plans don't go for water bills, again, you're obviously to wealthy to understand these things.

That's crap they come out and shut the water off ASAP. You live in SC, I live next door in GA. We need water! Every human does. No clue how they just shut that off.

Cool on the EBT for food though. I hope it's enough or a lot, but if the govt, I bet it isn't. No one in America should have to worry even a tiny bit about food and water! no one!

1. We have great lakes and rivers and a big infrastructure to move water around and clean it.

2. We feed the world! What the hell are we doing sending food all over the place if there is even one person who doesn't have enough to eat. THAT'S what taxes should be going for! Not bailing out the bankers who ruined the economy! They are literally getting their 7 figure bonuses. my dad showed me that story a couple of years ago. he couldn't believe his eyes. and that's when the banks were getting billions of dollars from the tax payers.

Comfortable typically means you don't have to worry about the things the less privileged do. Be happy.

They own the water lines. They have every right to deny someone usage of something that belongs to them. I didn't build those lines to run water to my house.

Some people get $50 a month in EBT, others get $1,000+. It all depends on how well you lie. Others, like my family, don't even qualify despite meeting the standards.

You're still missing the point. It can't be free. It's limited. It doesn't matter where we're sending it. You can't give your whole nation free water, it doesn't work that way. Yes, our government is wasteful spenders. I doubt it would really solve much as is. No one says water is unaffordable in the states. No one.

yeah, I don't worry about much. not a worrier to begin with, but i got it pretty good and easily content compared to my peers and neighbors. So I guess I'm happy, but I'm more content than anything. I realize I and my family got enough. More than enough. And being riled up of wanting more than more than enough is futile. Not many content people in this world and my family is one of em. Could care less what other people drive or how they live if it's better than us.

And let's face it. What did I do to get whatever I got? Nothing. I breathe. I was born and that's about it. I hate when kids think that they are rich and better than other people because first off, your parents are rich and you were lucky to be born to them. Period.

I don't think water should be free for everybody, but other people could pay more so people that are having a hard time can have enough water and that could be free for a while or a long time. I'm sure, in my neighborhood that if the water bill doubled or tripled in price, people would complain for a while and that's it. They wouldn't need to change their habits and could afford it, it's just a different amount of money that they already have anyway. So many people are so cheap when it comes to others, but if new Iphone comes out and they have a year left on their contract, they could care less.

$1000 a month for food is a little insane and $50 wouldn't help anyone for more than a few days if they have kids.

If an entity "kicks off" it is typically starting or beginning something; however, he failed to specify exactly what they're starting. Instead he said they would be a "massive help." Again he did not specify the specifics of this.

So as a result you can't really infer anything except that he neglected vital information to effectively relay his intended message. I most certainly don't see anything remotely related to violence or war in his words however.

it says on the UN's website
The right to water is not specifically mentioned in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. However, without access to water, other rights could not be exercised such as the "right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being" and the fact that "Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance."
