Hey guys! I'm fairly new here and I was looking through the first few pages and didn't see this topic here, so I'm going for it.

When, do you think, is the right time to date?

I've asked quite a few people and they all had different answers.
My Parents : "When you're 50. Why, are you dating someone right now?"
Teachers : "University or College age. High school is too early!"
High schoolers : "High school, obviously! Those middle schoolers are growing up too fast!"
Middle schoolers : "Middle school, obviously! Those elementary kids are growing up too fast!"
Elementary schoolers : "Do you want to play in the sandbox?"

So, yeah, what do you guys think?

I guess high school. I don't know, I'm not dating yet. Although I will say in high school parents should be paying close attention to who there kids are dating and what they are doing with their dates at that age.

Whenever you feel like it.

Any time is fine. Elementary school is notorious for the cute lil' kids pretending to be a couple and kissing on the cheek. Middle school is full of puppy love that goes nowhere. So I wouldn't advise couples at that age to get too intimate. High school is full of more puppy love, manipulative people, and a few genuine people. University has the most people looking for a real, lasting relationship though.

So I guess it depends. The longer you wait the more likely that it'll be serious.

I would say high school and up [ages 16+]. I've never dated though...but high school makes more...um "sense" and relationships seem to last longer and are sometimes more "serious".

I think this is more opinion sharing rather than debating points. Therefore: ROTW  Relationships and Dating.

And personally I agree with Josh. "Dating" at an elementary or middle school age isn't what a high schooler or university student would call dating. I don't really think there's a point to dating until you're around 15-16 but that's just my opinion taken from seeing other " star crossed couples" break up after a few weeks or months.

As for intimate/sexual relationships I'd also think 15/16, leaning more towards 16.

I would say late high school but it really comes down to if you are comfortable with getting out there.
