Is it alright to add someone on Facebook who you have not spoken to but know from hig

There is this person who I would like to add on Facebook who went to my high school (was at my school last year) but I never spoke to him (he was the school captain). I'm just afraid if I should add him or not on Facebook. I saw one of my mutual friends added him and he accepted but i'm not sure if they met each other and thats why he accepted. I'm also not sure if the person will accept me because i've not seen him face to face and spoken to him but I have seen him in the school and at the school assembly (the school captain running the assembly). He also got the highest mark in the final exams of school, I thought maybe I could get his advice for school work also.

So what do you think, should I add him even though I didn't see him face to face and talk to him.

Didn't you already make a thread asking this same exact question!!! I add people I don't know on Facebook all the time if we have mutual friends sometimes they accept sometimes they don't. If they don't I give NO FUCKS. If it accepts it woohoo if he doesn't oh fucking well just don't give a shit.

And my two cents, just add him. What's the worst that can happen? As long as you have mutual friends from the school with him, he'll pick up on the fact that you went to school with him and accept.

Just add him. Most likely he will accept your friend request if he sees that you have mutual friends. That is how I am and honestly, how most people are. If you have mutual friends, went to the same high school, etc., then most people will accept.
