What do you make of the American IRS scandal? I'll talk more about it if somebody wants to. I think it's a great example of how big government means abuse of power.

I don't think it justifies being opposed to big government, I mean abuse of power can happen at absolutely any level of government even a decentralized one.
I don't know much about the IRS tax scandal apart from the internal revenue service where apparently targeting right wing based political groups to see if they had been paying their taxes

It wasn't just to see if they were paying taxes. They were being scrutinized because they were filing for tax exempt status (like a charity). The thing is, is that these conservative leaning groups were looked at in much more detail than liberal leaning groups. That's what the real problem is when it comes to the groups themselves.

As Fisk pointed out, it wasn't just targeting. None of these groups ever got their applications approved for non profit status. Also, there's been groups who have had their information that was supposed to be kept private that was given to there political adversaries.
True, abuse of power can happen in any kind of government, but in a decentralized one it will be much more transparent and effect a lot less people if it does happen. This is one of the prime reason I support the private sector doing most things in our lives; they are generally grandparents and suffer the consequences if they do something illegal. Whereas in this government situation, you have this Lois Learner lady put on paid leave and a fake FBI investigation headed by a close friend of a man that might be involved: President Obama.

Government always tries to bend the rules to benefit its party. The only unique part of the IRS scandal is that it was perpetrated by Democrats, not Republicans. And we did have a big problem with conservative think tanks passing themselves off as nonprofits. These people were abusing the nonprofit/religious tax breaks to advance their political views.
The whole voter fraud and immigration issues are also like this. While fraud and illegal immigration do exist, the people who are affected by the "cures" are conveniently all Democrat-leaning demographics (Hispanics, other minorities, youth and seniors).
It's just a part of politics; what can I say?

This wasn't just "bending the rules." This was flat out breaking them. The IRS was not permitted to ask for donor information; one of the reasons these organization apply in the first place was so they don't have to do that. Not only that, but in some cases they even gave the donors list to there liberal opponents so they could attack and harass conservatives. Meanwhile, they didn't accept ANY tea party applications for over two years, they kept them waiting!

Yet another scandal involving the IRS, and another possible wrongdoing on the part of Eric Holder's Justice Department:
