I live in NYC. No use for a car in Manhattan, and the subway is too expensive in the summer, so I ride my bike pretty much everywhere. It started out as a necessity, but I've come to absolutely love it. I've wanted to head into Jersey, but the thought of riding on a country road sounds... difficult. I've been hit by cars before, but something about a road without regular traffic lights and small shoulders is worrisome.

Sooo does anyone do recreational biking in either the suburbs or countryside? Any stories about the places you've gone on your bike or anything really. Share!

Well I live in Suburban Minneapolis, so I usually get rids places I can't bike. When I do bike though, It's a Haro X2 that looks like this:

I do a lot of tricks with it because unlike most bikes around here, it's an actual BMX bike.

I'm a biker, I live in big city Chicago and we have a ton of bike lanes and you can bring your bike on trains & buses. Most days, I bike 3-4 depending on where I'm going. Starting next year, I'm going to start biking to school.

The longest I've rode on my bike was to Indiana, about 20 miles, started at 9am and came home about 5. With gas prices so high, parents only having one car, and public trans fares rising, biking is a good option for me.

I have a mongoose mountain bike, the gears are fucked up bad but as long as I'm able to get where I need to go I aint going to complain..

I'm a biker. I cant ride my bike to school because it's 10km away and I cant really get up at 6AM to get there, but I do ride for fun. I tend to travel to the airport which is about 10km away from my house, and take sone Plane pictures.

My bike is brand new Rockrider 5.2, it's two days old, and serves the purpose i want just awesome. From thhe little time I have been able to ride it I loved it. The front Damper is soft to the prefect point where it absorbs the bumps but doesnt get annoying. And It's good for stunting too.

Pics from yesterday night, I will take some proper pictures when I get to ride it.

I plan to upgrade the tyres as soon as this ones wear out to some proper Continentals. I also need to readjust the rear derailleur because it got pretty imprecise when we brought it home in the car.

Biking pretty much makes my life. I live out in a rural part of Oregon less than a mile from the biggest trail system in the state. It's awesome. I race competitively and all that stuff too. I've been riding a Specialized Hardrock Sport, one of the first 29'ers on the market, but yesterday I placed the order for a Santa-Cruz Bronson Carbon. I'm stoked. I ended up winning the Bronson in a race I did, but I was too tall so mine has to be special ordered. :)

I like riding my bike. I live in a quiet suburb so it's generally pretty safe. I ride a white road bike. It's fast, easy to ride, and turns nicely. I love it.

I bike to and from most places where I go, as I don't tend to bike far. The town centre, which is right on the edge of the town (and England, most easterly town! :) ) is only about 2/3 miles away, so not that far. I probably would drive if I had the opportunity though, but the age to drive is 17 where I am.

Back when I lived in Bogotá they used to close off some roads so people can drive their bikes on sundays, I used to do it religiously, then I moved, so I am out of practice.
