Forgive me if there's already a thread like this, but who's your favorite rapper?
Eminem without a doubt. "lose Yourself" has etched its way into music history.

2pac,Nas,Biggie,Immortal Technique,Ice Cube are my personal favorites.
Heres my personal list(no particular order)
2pac
Biggie
Nas
Diabolic
Eminem
Immortal Technique
Kanye West(Old Kanye 2004-2008)
Ice Cube
Chino XL
Rakim
Countless more....
People need to be more open to rap, not all of it is ignorant bullshit like Lil Wayne or 2 Chainz. It truly is good rap out there, you just gotta get off the mainstream radio music to find it. Sorry if I am going on a bit of a rant, but I hate when people judge rap on a few garbage songs they heard on MTV or the radio. Also, get past the sterotypes that all rap is about sex, money, cars, shooting... I understand musical opinion and preference but give it a chance, listen to some GOOD rap first, then judge it.

I know. It really is too bad. Every time someone says the bullshit that is: "Rap is bad to society" and blah blah blah; I ask them if they even know who Immortal and Eminem and Tupac really are. When they say no, I ask if they've heard of 2 chains and Lil Wayne. When they say yes. I say well there you go. And Then I just walk away.
Oh, and your list is great.

I like their chocolate too.
The wrappers are always clean and crisp feeling, and are really easy and simple to open, but keep the chocolate fresh :)
I don't like most rap, but I think Eminem is good.

I really don't think Eminem is the best rapper. His best rap was when he begun with The Slim Shady EP etc. but even then he rapped about murder, rape and stuff like that. His latest stuff is just too 'mainstream' for me, it's not unique anymore.

I'm still waiting on Aesop to come Ireland. Immortal Technique did last October which was pretty cool.
Never got into Busdriver. He has some good songs - like Lefty's Lament - but otherwise I think he's pretty average. I'd still pay to see him if he was in Ireland, though. Better than most of the acts that come over.

It was 16 and up (or it said so on the tickets, anyway; the bar advertised 18s only, however) when he preformed in Ireland. He's pretty small-scale here, played in a bar called the Twisted Pepper. Tickets were cheap enough; twenty-ish euro when I looked them up. I didn't go though if I gave that impression - it was cool that someone decent bothered to turn up is what I meant. The plans I made quickly fell apart when we realised he'd decided to play in Clondalkin of all places.

Lil Wayne is a lyrical genius? That's the funniest shit I've heard in the last few days. I dont mean to rip on your opinion but you must not know a lot of rap if you consider Wayne to be a lyrical genius.
Ok, he might have a nice line once in awhile, but majority of the material he puts out is utter trash. The only "lyrical" song I've ever heard of Lil Wayne was Mr Carter, that is his best song hands down. His whole little YMCMB crew with Drake,Tyga, and Nicki is just garbage.
Real LYRICAL rap-Nas, Biggie, Mos Def, Immortal Technique, Common, 2pac, Outkast/Andre 3000 just to name a few.
I dont believe I have to name any reasons, you can listen to any Lil Wayne song with the exception of Mr Carter and a few others and see why hes garbage. The only half way decent mainstream rapper nowadays is Wiz Khalifa and Kendrick Lamar.

Ugh I think about
More than I forget
But I don't go around fire
Expectin not to sweat
And these niggas know I lay em down,
Make you bed
Bitches try to kick me while I'm down,
I'll break your leg
Money out weighin problems
On a triple beam
I'm stickin to the script,
You niggas skippin scenes
Ugh be good or be good at it
Fuckin right I got my gun
Semi-Cartermatic
Yeah I put the dick in their mouth
So I guess it's fuck what they say
I'm high as a bitch, up up and away,
Man I'll come down in a couple of days
Okay you want me up in a cage,
Then I'll come out in beast mode
I got this world stuck in a safe,
Combination is the G code
It's weezy mother fucka blood gang
And I'm in bleed mode
All about my doe,
But I don't even check the peep hole,
So you can keep knockin,
But won't knock me down
No love lost,
No love found
Everything in this rap is co-linear everything comes back to its basis, he doesn't once stray from the original thought/ concept "no love" Every metaphor comes to a conclusion every line has a synonym.

These are in my opinion what makes a good rapper:
Lyricism, actually having a bit of a message or emotion, not talking about eating pussy or how your going to blow someones head off with a 45 in every song
Flow, todays rappers have decent(some of them) flow, so I wont hate on that.
Delivery, how you deliever/say your bars
Success, not necessarily being a massive number one charting mainstream artist, just having a decent fanbase and following
Bars-Lengthy songs, not just a garbage hook with a few garbage verses Example: Versace Versace
Wordplay,Metaphors,Similes- Example: Chino XL
Nicki Minaj lacks Wordplay/Metaphors,Similes,Bars,Her flow is OK, and lyricism
Lil Wayne lacks lyricism, his flow is OK at times, 95% of the time hes garbage
Drake lacks bars, flow, delivery, wordplay, has a few good lyrical songs from Take Care I will admit.
Tyga-just garbage.
I just cant respect Lil Wayne for two main reasons, one hes always fake gangbanging talking about Soo Woo and blood gang and shit. Leaders and high ranking offcials in the Bloods have already come out saying hes fake. The other is I dont like how at one of his concerts he said hes the "new Pac". The only nigga even closed to Pac's level is Nas.
Lil Wayne,Drake,Tyga and all these other garbage mainstream niggas out here are the main reason people stereotype rap. People look at rap as a laughing stock because of them. I just wish people would listen to real rap like Nas or Immortal Tech and stop judging off of trash mainstream rappers.

Why hate on someone because of gang related things , well yes lil wayne does have a few song that don't talk about banging or any of that stuff, but his everything else is flawless a plus work, lil wayne is surpassed just hyped songs hes surpassed sex songs he surpassed fighting with a lot of songs, he offers variety and solid hooks and bars ,
Drake Is DOPE tf no flow? no bars? no delivery? Ha maybe you should listen to more of his songs -marvins room duh K bye this has gotten to a level where only disrespecting motives and intentions come to play, but it was fun

I just said that I like a few of Drake's songs, Marvins room is pretty good.
Drake confuses me, one minute hes talking about how hes going to "catch a body", the next hes singing love songs.
I don't know if you know who Ja Rule is, but Drake reminds me of him a lot.
All im saying is compared to the people I listen to(Nas,Pac,Mos Def,Immortal Technique,Chino XL,Biggie), all those guys who your dickriding are landfill trash.
That YMCMB group is the reason rap/hip hop isn't respected as it use to anymore.
I don't know if your aware of this but 90% of the mainstream niggas out right now use ghostwriters(meaning they have someone else write their songs for them).

My answer has to be and always will be emenim, he raps out his life. Most rapper are fake and what they rap about hasn't even happened to them. Rap is a form of poetry set to a beat, so it should be meaningful IMO.
