What do you think? Should labor unions and private companies be permitted to make campaign donations?

Yes, but full disclosure should be mandatory. Right now, anyone can donate even if they are not in the US and yet no one has to know who donated money or how much it was.
While the notion of companies donating to campaigns is an issue, a lot of the problem will be fixed if people know WHO is donating to start with.

No, because it creates allegiances to those labor unions and corporations. It should be outlawed. You either fund a campaign yourself or rely on the donations of your supporters. End of.

I'll just say that I'm a little conflicted on this issue. I mean, I believe that corporations are groups of people working voluntrailly together, as are labor unions (right to work states), and should be afforded the same rights as individuals, but at the same time I think that the goal of running a business or labor union should be to make yourself money, in the end that's probably the reason your invested right? And it shouldn't be to forward a political campaign directly. If you want to make a personal donation to a campaign that should certainly be within your rights, however. Sway me. I certainly think that a private corporation or labor union should have to disclose to whom it donates, though.
Just a side note though, IF labor unions couldn't contribute, it'd cripple the Democratic Party!
