Don't you think it's weird for people to say that homosexuality is an abomination but are not willing to kill a gay person? I mean, if you believe it's deserving of death, then if you have a son that takes the courage to come out of the closet, you should kill him immediately because that's what your faith says. Like as if there's no other way of interpretation you can use at all.
If you're going to believe in and ideology so extreme then shouldn't you commit to it and not be some pussy poser extremist?
You're not stupid for believing in such things - just brainwashed. Brainwashed from what you're friends, parents, and politics have told you. This hatred is dying out. New interpretations of religious text will continue to grow as generations go on adapting to a culture that slowly becomes more accepting of its own people.
It's time to throw away that garbage that came from the Conservative Tea Party fuckers. Are you a religious person? They took a shit on your religion. Bastardized it. Made many people stop believing and hate religion. I understand this because I was one of these people that was absolutely disgusted at humanity. Around the end of last year I finished my conversion process to Judaism which was an extremely personal choice that took a long process. A lot of people probably would find that weird on VT knowing my history when I was very militant and pissed off. I don't talk much about it because it's personal and I think that's something people don't care about in faith anymore; that it's a personal thing, not a billboard and some ass knocking at your door preaching fear.
This weird hatred will die out quite soon. I know of this. Although, I do find it quite weird many people are still not waking up. People are still being drones.. I guess the reason why is because it's so easy to eat shit when it's shoved down your throat from the start of your life.. Especially based on where you grow up (Be it in Southern or parts of Midwest USA).
I am gay and cannot change that. No, I did not wake up gay one day. I've tried fapping to girls but cannot get hard and just find it weird. There's no point for someone like me to feel the need to ATTEMPT to become straight because it's IMPOSSIBLE. I cannot become bisexual or straight. I will always be like this and always have. People like me shouldn't have to hate themselves over something they can't control. It shouldn't be a big deal to be gay.. Shouldn't have to come out of the closet and it have to be one of the most monumental things you do in your life because parts of society hate homosexuality. It's not like a straight person has to sit down and say they're straight to their parents. Wouldn't it be great if you never had to worry at all about being hated and shunned down for what you are? And you could also still believe in whatever you believe without feeling like you're a horrible person because some political brainwash statement has convinced people to think you are?
How many more people are going to kill themselves over this ideology that makes them feel worthless or has led to them being bullied and harassed? How many will have to deal with long self hatred, depression and drive themselves batshit insane? How many more people have to suffer for all of this to end? Why did people have to suffer to begin with? Can't we all just say this conservative tea party ideology is evil, bigoted, and cost many, many lives?
You all need to imagine a big fucking rainbow of people of all religions, gender, races, and sexuality holding hands on a lucky charms cereal box. Throw in some aliens and extra terrestrials holding hands with us just for the future's sense. Fuck off hatred. Fuck yeah equality and love.

This "conservative tea party ideology" is not just about social issues! And nor is it just Christians! I'm agnostic I identify with that group. The vast majority of it is about saving America from fiscal ruin! Now how about YOU develop a little tolerance about people who believe differently then you, maybe make a well organized argument instead of a rant against the people you disagree with politically! It makes you appear stupid and unaware. I think this should be moved to the "white padded room."

Actually, I think this is fine here. However, I think you're missing his point. By this time homosexuality shouldn't be hated. In fact, sexuality / religion and such really shouldn't have to go through any political approval to begin with. However, political parties use religion and homosexuality as a tool of propaganda. They exploit and even smear these two groups to gain support from another. This creates a big problem.
A pro-gay political party is directly outspoken, typically, against religions such as Christianity. So they make Christians appear evil and rally homosexual support in a form of hate. Unfortunately, this brainwashes part of the LGBT community to believe all Christians are Satan's spawn.
Likewise an anti-gay political party would be directly outspoken against the LGBT community and do whatever they can to make it seem as if the LGBT community will destroy out country. Unfortunately they call themselves "Christian" or some other religion and inadvertently represent us as hatemongers.
Tim is right. It's bullshit by this point.
But Tim, let me say this, from a Christian's standpoint: the Old Testament says to kill gays. Yes, it does; however, once you read the New Testament you look back where it says "their blood is upon their own heads." Essentially meaning they would kill themselves spiritually. Now, of course, in religions that disregard the New Testament, this would be a very deep debate.

Most of the points you make are shit in general, because you are what is called a "pseudo-intellectual". You basically just tossed out what he was pointing out, and got butthurt because he mentioned "conservatives". He's not just talking about how much he hates conservatives (even though the majority of them do believe this shit). This is about intolerance towards homosexuality. So why don't you actually read the post, and give a valid response or get the fuck out, and stop pretending like you have an opinion, because I'm tired of your bullshit
Sometimes I find myself not caring if I'm accepted or not because I know that I accept myself. Though discrimination for me has nothing to do with my sexuality, but the color of my skin, so I don't feel the same repercussions of their actions.
It does make me happy that the number of people who openly support the LGBT community is rising steadily, especially with the younger generations.

I had a feeling that you would post something like that. Grow tolerant for people who believe different from you? Are you serious? That is one of the most hypocritical things I have ever seen on this site. You're telling somebody who has been discriminated against for no apparent reason to become more tolerant about other peoples' beliefs? Tim is 100% right. You sound brainwashed and it's almost scary to watch. It makes him appear stupid and unaware? You sound quite stupid and unaware. I guess it's something that some people will never understand, you are absolutely one of those people. You'll never know what it's like to be rejected by parts of society. You'll never know what it feels like to have to worry about your own father rejecting you because you were born, from his genes, loving those of the same sex. You'll never know what it feels like to love somebody and have everybody question you, look at you differently and even avoid you. You'll never know what any of these terrible, abominations to man kind feels like to happen to you, and for that reason alone you are ignorant going into a debate on the subject against people who do know what those feelings feel like.
You're a brainwashed politician-to-be who thinks he knows it all and it's sickening. You're defending intolerance. If you believe in cilvil rights for the African Americans, then shouldn't you believe in equality for those of other sexualities? A bit contradictory, don't you think? But you won't think it's contradictory or even remotely fucked up because you're not being discriminated against constantly. If you believe in racial equality, woman's suffrage religious tolerance then how is this any different? Please explain this to me, I would really love to know. And I don't want to hear an explanation from The Bible -- Jesus spoke of love and tolerance. I'm not a religious man, your religion's beliefs don't hold any value to me in all honesty, so using your words, "learn to respect peoples' beliefs who are different from yours". You say you're agnostic and it doesn't have anything to do with religion, okay, but then you say that your party's platform isn't all about social issues, I'm sorry but what? We're talking about a social issue. That has almost no relevance in this thread at all. But again, you'll just contradict yourself and play it off with your politician bullshit.
This issue has so many "rants and raves" about it because it's fucking ridiculous at this point. What the actual fuck? We are human beings, we are supposedly held as "equals", it's fucked up. If you can't see that then I don't know what's wrong with you to be honest. If you think the KKK is fucked up, or you think the religious or racial genocide is fucked up, then how can you not see what is wrong with this? It's pathetic.

It's not hypocritical. I believe that it's rather unproductive to pointlessly rant out against people you disagree with. I'll respect his views if he'll respect mine. No need to mindlessly swear at a large segment of the population.

And like I said above, I just wanted to point out that it's silly to put the tea party in the position of being homophobes as it's mostly an economic movement.

Tim is right. It's bullshit by this point.
Agreed. Rather than think with our modern morals and learn from the past, we're using sexuality (as opposed to race or gender) as a political card to gather support for/against a political party rather than deal with this "issue" with common sense; "if we're all equal, we all deserve the same rights" the very same idea we've been dealing with since the abolition of slavery, the civil rights movement, and gender equality. For some reason, we still don't understand this concept enough to apply it to everyone.

Yes, you do. You called Tim intolerant (and therefore a hypocrite) for labeling "Tea Party Conservatives" as homophobes, and that maybe he (a discriminated gay man) should be respectful for people that don't believe in equality.
And like I said above, I just wanted to point out that it's silly to put the tea party in the position of being homophobes as it's mostly an economic movement.
Name five Tea Party politicians that support same-sex marriage and equal rights for gays; you can't because they are mostly Republican, who are mostly anti-gay.
Finally, could you all stop using the "f" word? It makes you appear as though you have a rather small vocabulary.
Swear words are "sentence enhancers." They add emotion to a passionate feeling for something that you strongly believe in. Sometimes you have to abandon "political rhetoric" and speak in a way that others can identify with. It means they're speaking from their heart, which is sometimes the best route to take in an argument. I know you think that the "proper" way to argue is with a "wide and intelligent vocabulary", but in today's age on an internet forum, it really doesn't matter.

Let's not start this shit.
The Old Testament should be read in context. So it actually is against religion, but it shouldn't be hated as it is. Back then it was okay to kill people for stupid shit. Today? Not so much.

I hate it when politicians and religious leaders use religion/sexuality to further their goals. The clerical party in Serbia was rounding up hooligans to beat Gay Pride Parade attendants. Even when I was a Christian I viewed it wrong, just like the whole Serbian Orthodox Chruch. So just because my friend opened up and told me he is is gay means that he should get lashed to a cross and burned for blasphemy? No. I currently have no gay friends, but I have no problem if any of them are gay. Sexuality does not define a whole person. One of the main reasons I stopped being religious is because religion is very abused.

The same can be said about the opposition to it.

You mean pro-gay parties? We have none here since people are too afraid to open up. On this matter, the majority of the Serbian population is homophobic, and 1% is radically homophobic (assaulting gay people and stuff like that). I heard there are cases of parents disowning their children just because they admitted that they are attracted to the same sex. When I say disowned, I mean beaten up and kicked out of the house without any possibility to return.

That is not the solution. The solution is for the authorities to round up all religious-related parties, disband them, do criminal investigations on their members, and if any evidence is found, imprison them and the hired hooligans. From 2000, only two Gay Pride Parades were held, with lots of violence. The hooligans and the priests were attacking the people attending the parade.

Ok, to put this straight. There are homophobic people. 1% of the population is openly anti-gay and are racist football club fans and engage in illegal activities, one of them is giving the gay community a hard time. There are homophobic parents which disown their children and throw them out of the house for liking the same sex. All of those have the support of the Orthodox Church and the Dveri (the Gates, a clerical political party). Nobody is not doing anything as long as the church is involved. And if they are Christians? By what I was taught, a Christian would strive not to infringe the God-given freedom, so all those above, especially hooligans are not Christians, they are fake patriots which worship the genocides Serbs carried out during the Civil War, they worship the cutthroat Draža Mihajlović and that goddamn king whose grandaddy left us at the mercy of Hitler, and his predecessor who started a dictatorship, claiming that all people of Yugoslavia are Serbs (No, lol, we are all Yugoslav, translated South Slavic which divides into other groups like the Croats, Slovenians Serbs etc.). He got killed in an assassination attempt by Croatian nationalists and Macedonian separatists.

your county really has some history lol, what you government needs to do is give a public statement saying 'everyone is the sane in the eyes if the law, regardless of race, religion or gender' then arrest anyone who brakes the law, regardless of religion

Well, try telling that to a government which is not about filling their pockets. You better look for the politicians from the '45-'88 governments. They were decent enough to resign if people were protesting against them.

Then I'd better buy nails because I would get lashed to a cross for 'heresy'. Do those idiots even know the definition of a heresy? If I was considered by the Orthodox Christians as a heretic, I would either be a Catholic (since in the eyes of many Orthodox people Catholicism is a heresy) or some other branch of Christianity whose teachings stray from the Orthodox doctrines. If I had to choose, I would be a Bogomilist heretic since they were the most peaceful and least demanding. But yeah, I would like to join a relatively radical communist movement. The situation is ultra right-wing that it needs a push all the way to the left. I would not strive to become a leader in communist Serbia since power easily corrupts. A lot of laws should be struck down to bring the possibility of a dictator to a minimum.

I guess the United States would be a more acceptive audience to spreading of communist ideas then Serbia, but I cannot move yet, only when I save enough money and find a job in Canada or Australia, the UK will do.

More accepting of communism? Come on, the Democratic Party hasn't gone that far left yet!

In the United States I would not get lashed to a cross for 'heresy' by some uneducated hooligan. People would think that I am roght or wrong and that's it.

There is a tiny bit of the population, but it does not make a big diference since the population is very large.

Can we keep this on topic? I understand that you may have wanted the debate to take a turn, but this is Tim's thread -- let's stay on track.
