But the blood was different to my period blood (different texture and lighter shade)

I know this post is disgusting but have I broken my hymen? Should I be worried?

from a guess i think you've broken it, due to the blood being a little diffrent in consistency to your period blood. i bleed a little when i broke mine! and a hair brush is normal...so now worries

The only bad thing about having it torn or broken is that some uneducated dweebs may assume that you're lying about not being a virgin [hymen tearing can happen from sports -- tampons -- accidents from horse or bike riding -- or even masturbation. If it stings or is painful -- I'd see a doctor to check it out....

You probally broke it from how deep you said you put it, if it starts hurting you should tell a adult. Also, their are no disadvantages to having it broken/torn that I at least know of.

Cheeky, first you can't break it it isn't glass! I hate that term like you are damaged or something. Anyway, if you go fast or big or deep at first it is possible to tear it a bit. No worries at all. No problems nothing to worry about and it's fine. It might still tear a bit again if you do this again or use something bigger. If it isn't uncomfortable for you don't worry about it. If you are worried or it hurts just go slower and softer and work up by starting a bit smaller and slowly over a couple days weeks get bigger. But honestly it isn't a big deal at all.

It isn't a big deal at all. everyone is gonna "break" it at some point. either from sex or sports or vigorous activity or it just breaks on its own.
and I totally agree....I hate the term "break" !! It's almost as bad as "lost" my virginity. sounds like it escaped by mistake when I wasn't looking.
I didn't lose it, I made a choice to have sex. I just hate how every word or phrase or term about sex or the female body has totally negative undertones.

The best way to know is to go to the doctor, but if it is not an option just try next time how deep you can go. And no there are no worries about breaking it, it is totally normal.

You probably have broken it but its not a very big deal someday it would have been broken anyways so it's ok :)
