A teacher has lost his job after mistakenly broadcasting pornography to his classroom.

In a decision published yesterday, the Teachers' Disciplinary Tribunal censured the unnamed teacher for the few seconds of adult content he broadcast in November 2011, but stopped short of cancelling his registration.

The man himself was so shocked after the clip that he simply continued to teach the year 12 class without mentioning the offending material.

After pupils raised the porn clip with their student counsellor, the teacher immediately confessed and resigned.

The mistake occurred after he viewed the pornography at home on his personal work laptop.

He was streaming a PowerPoint presentation from his laptop on to the school smartboard when it switched over to the next file, which happened to be pornographic.

this is kind of similar to what happened in the netherlands once, where there was a teacher that watched a whole porn movie. that was on purpose though, so much worse then this

1) Why would you save porn to a work computer?
2) Why would you save it to a folder where you know there are files that you use to teach a class?

Egh ._.

That's disturbing knowing that teachers would do that.

Too bad unlike most Americans I've been to Europe and know that's not true. :P

Porn in class? And that from a teacher? It's disgusting and weird!
Im sorry for that teacher being sacked but that should serve as an example to other teaching members before downloading porn on their working laptops.

I'm not sorry at all. You have a responsibility as a teacher to be a role model to your students, and someone they can look up to. Fired, and rightfully so.

This kinda pisses me off because I hear stories of teachers physically assaulting their students and what's their punishment for that? It's simply being suspended for like half a year or in some cases, a full year. When I was in 7th grade, a teacher was caught on camera looking down a girl's shirt when she dropped something in front of her. The Industrial Technology teacher got suspended for 3 months. If you ask me. THAT is a good situation where the teacher should be fired and charged for pedophilia. The girl was 13 at the time.

But as soon as a classroom full of 17 and 18 year olds are shown something that can't even hurt them because they most likely all watch it them selves, the teacher gets fired. Just last year, when I was a freshman, my english class watched the 1968 Romeo and Juliet film which has brief nudity in it. No one was scarred... It was the complete opposite because you just had 14 and 15 year olds going "Yeah! Tits in school!"

I do understand that actual pornography is different though and that the teacher deserved a punishment.

So, that version of romeo & Julliet that you watched, the one with the breasts? Well that actress herself was underage, so you watched child pornography.

Surely you are right.
I'm just sorry for him being stupid enough.

It depends on how severe the pornography was. For example, if it was pretty softcore, then he should be able to carry on as a teacher but if he played something that was psychologically damaging to the students then he shouldn't be allowed to teach ever again, such as bestiality.

To be fair, if it was regular pornography then he should be able to keep his job as a teacher. After all, it was a year 12 class (my year) and pretty much many males that age do watch it, if anything they would probably giggle a bit. But I do agree the result was completely justified. It was a good decision to make.

If you went to the actual website, it said in the article;

So yeah probably not.

Yeah, wasn't she like 16 17? Either way, yes. That was child porn.

Back then, there were no such pornography laws. When I watched it in class one of the more conservative kids walked out and stayed out for the whole class(which was funny, since the nudity was only like a few seconds).

Also, it wouldn't be surprising if a teacher got caught showing porn where I live. One of my old teachers posted a wildly sexual Facebook update and he wasn't suspended.

That's what I figured. Back then, it couldn't have been that big of a deal.

I hope this teacher was fired...probably not because of the teacher's union.

I thought that was amusing... Something similar happened to the President of my Shooting Club, he used his sons laptop for a presentation. Needless to say everyone thinks he is a pervert and the Club President suspects his son of being gay O.O lol...
