We already had a best handgun an assault rifle thread, so why not have a best sniper/marksman rifle thread?
I am undecided between Zastava M91 and Zastava M93 Black Arrow.

The armys old M24. I was dumb enough to build one and later found out they switched to the XM2010. If not the M24 the McMillan Tac 338 is my next choice. Also the Winchester 70 used during vietnam

So are a lot of other guns. Chris kyle made over a 1 miles shot with a 338 lapua magnum which isn't as powerful as a 408 cheytech

The US does use the M107 claiming its an anti material rifle although they use to kill people.

M14 EBR. Hits with power, and has quite a capacity. And it's the official DMR in the US military.
FN FAL- bucking monster.

The m14 is a great rifle but its good out 400 500 yards. It looses its accuracy. The FN FAL isn't a sniper rifle it is an assault rifle.

The FAL is used as a sniper in some organizations, Forgot who though.
I say my favorite is the only one I have fired, the AWM. Still a pretty decent sniper though.

The Zastava M91 is a Dragunov variation, but more reliable and accurrate I think. I heard they use those in Syria, the M91s I mean.

i know Cheytac has been working on some good systems for a team of 2-3, but for a single operative, an m14 is a pretty dam good rifle.

Zastava M91 has two times longer operating range and the same or better accuracy.

Can your M91 do over 2 miles? No. The 408 cheytech can.
On another note. The CIA has used the 7mm rem mag. Not the Ruger M77 like I have but close enough. A 7mm can do 1000+ yards making it a great caliber for long range.

It is actually classified as a Battle Rifle, similarly to most "DMRS."
So yes, it is in the right place...

Who ever uses the FN FAL as a sniper either has no money or is extremely stupid. I wouldn't go into combat with one. Sniper roll or not. To many problems with them. They're like saiga 12s they suck unless you do a shit ton of work to them.

The Zastava M07 is very similar in design to westerm mauser derivatives. It has an operating range of 2-2,5 kilometers. Same goes or the Black Arrow in terms of ramge.

It doesn't matter what its.modeled after its that. what is the.caliber of.all these guns your talking about?
Your M07 only has an effective range of 1000 meters. Tats nowhere near 2 miles like you said.

Remington MSR
I like its compact and modular design as well as stopping power out to a considerable distance.

Sorry, the Black Arrow has the range up to 1,800 meters. The BA uses .50 BMG, the M07 uses 7.62x51, the M91 uses 7,62x54.

7.62X51 has an effective range of 600-700 yards..50 BMG has an effective range if a mile and a half. The 7.62X54 has an effective range of 700-750 yards.

They are actually very powerful rifles. If they could put bolt action on the thing it actually COULD be a legitimate sniper. Saiga-12s are shotguns, and shoot shells. Even if they shot slugs they would still be about as accurate as a Desert Eagle (not accurate, really).
FN FALs are pretty good military battle rifles, actually. If used as assault rifles as you say they are, you would be correct.

FN FALs are like saiga 12s unless do a lot of work to them they do not function correctly. If you do do that work they are great guns.
