My friend, Emma, she's a year older than me, she texted me last week saying she'd cut. I knew Emma had done rounds with depression before, but she'd never cut. I gave all the usual help amd emcouragement not to cut. But today, she texted me again, she said she cut again. I can only think of so much, what else can I do to help her?

Just let her know that you are there for her. Emma needs support right now, you just need to make sure she knows that you are there for her. Try talking about it with her, reasons for doing it, source of the problem... Hang out with her and keep her occupied. Let her know that you two are still close friends and that you'd do anything to help her in this situation. I suggest not just texting her about it, because that can only do so much. Physically talking and being there with the person will be a great help to her.

Sometimes you don't even need to do anything but listen. People like people that listen to them, most of the time they don't expect a response and just want someone to be there. However, if you think talking will help her, just try and reasure her she's going to be okay and that there are people willing to listen if she needs it. Just don't pressure her to tell you anything and you should be fine.
